present her latest bridal collection at the Aashni + Co
Wedding Show, taking place at The Dorchester, Mayfair on
Sunday 13th January 2019.

An industry trailblazer, Anita Dongre has been at the
forefront of Indian fashion for over 20 years. A connoisseur
of craftsmanship, her designs showcase Indian aesthetics for
the global woman of today. Internationally, her designs have
been worn by personalities such as Kate Middleton, Hillary

Her latest bridal collection, Odyssey, comprises silks and
Benarasi weaves adorned with intricately embroidered motifs,
inspired by the wildlife of Ranthambore, in the label’s
signature craft of gota patti along with handcrafted dori,
sequin, pearl, zari, zardozi and cut dana work. The colour
palette presents a variety of jewel tones such as deep reds,
greens, blues, and softer pastel shades, enthused by the
colours of the vibrant birds and lakes of Ranthambore. The
lehengas are classics with varied styles of cholis and
contrasting dupattas.

Continuing to surpass itself and the expectations of
discerning fashionista’s and brides-to-be annually, Aashni +
Co Wedding Show 2019 will once again transform one of the

‘Harry Potter’ girl Afshan
Azad weds in Birmingham’s
Symphony Hall
Celebrity bride Afshan Azad, who played Padma Patil in the
Harry Potter films, wed her fiance Nabil at the world-renowned
Symphony Hall (SH)in Birmingham on Sunday 19th August 2018,
making it the first ever Asian wedding hosted at the iconic
venue. The Symphony Hall was the perfect backdrop for the
Gatsby themed wedding and all 550 guests, including co-stars
Bonnie Wright and Katie Leung, who came to support their
friend on her big day.

Harry Potter films co-stars Bonnie Wright and Katie Leung, who
came to support their friend Afshan Azad on her big day at
Birmingham’s Symphony Hall on Sunday 19th August 2018.

Planned by the Monsoon Venue Group (MVG), Managing Director
Pav Shergill oversaw the planning and execution of the event,
saying “we always knew that the Symphony Hall would be a
fantastic venue for an Asian wedding and dinners alike.
Weddings are a very personal and emotive event, and therefore
convincing a client to take the plunge and be the first couple
to host their big day at a venue where it has never been done

the event, Afshan and her husband Nabil had great vision and

A bejewelled London weekend
at the National Asian Wedding
Show 2017
With the Indian wedding industry valued at over £12 billion
p.a., the National Asian Wedding Show and India Fashion Week
returned to London’s Olympia on the weekend of 11th and 12th
November 2017. This year’s show attracted in excess of 20,000
people with 340 exhibition stands covering over 8,000 square
metres, along with a series of catwalks throughout the two
days, presenting the latest trendsetting wedding designs from
top Indian designers.

The show was also the the perfect opportunity to get a view of
this season’s latest bridal trends first hand, with Illamasqua
Indian Fashion Week London. The space was complemented by a

Prachi Desai to walk the ramp
at the National Asian Wedding
Show
Bollywood beauty Prachi Desai is to descend on the biggest
catwalk in Europe for the National Asian Wedding Show and
India Fashion Week, 11th – 12th November 2017 at Olympia
London. The actor, known for her stellar performances in
Azhar, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Rock On and Bol Bachchan,
is ready to dazzle the London stage by displaying the best of
Indian fashion. Prachi Desai will be walking the ramp for
Shweta Parekh and Illamasqua on the 12th November 2017.

Parachi also shared a video clip expressing her excitement to
join her fans in London. Talking about the event Prachi said,
“I am very excited to participate at the National Asian
Wedding Show as part of the India Fashion Week in London. The
city is after all the home of fashion, second only to Paris.

The shows boast the accolade of being the largest indoor Asian

National Asian Wedding Awards
Winners 2016 Announced
The Asian Wedding Industry’s most outstanding businesses were
celebrated at the National Asian Wedding Awards (NAWA) on 14th
March 2016 at The Renaissance Hotel, Manchester. The awards
celebrate the people and businesses who make wedding dreams a
reality, and reward their tireless devotion, creativity and
inspiration in and industry contributing around £72million per
year to the local economy. Monir Ali, Photographer, is the
founder of the Asian Wedding Awards with Juel Khan as the
Organiser of the Awards. The NAWA, now in their third year,
were hosted by Raj Parmar & Neetal Parekh, who were joined by
Talat Farooq Awan of the BBC, actress Afshan Azad, The
Worshipful Mayors of Stockport and Oldham Metropolitan Borough
in presenting 22 awards in a range of categories.

the ‘Wedding Professional of the Year’ and Tarla Somaiya of
Payal Events was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to
the Industry award. Payal Events grew from selling cards and
helium balloons to an organisation that has served over 1
Million Meals.

The 2016 Awards had over 300 nominees, which were shortlisted
down to 122 finalists that were judged on elements including
on customer service, creativity, dedication and commitment to
