OVERVIEW IEA HPT ANNEX 54
• Objectives:
   – Promoting application of low-GWP refrigerants to accelerate phase down of
     high-GWP HFCs
   – Developing design guidelines of optimized components and systems for low-
     GWP refrigerants
• Scopes:
   – Review of low-GWP refrigerants, their properties and applicable standards
   – Review of safety and flammability of refrigerants, and safe use of flammable
     refrigerants
   – Optimization of heat pump components and systems for low-GWP refrigerants
   – Analyze the LCCP impacts by the current design and optimized design with
     low-GWP refrigerants
   – Make an outlook for Heat Pumps with low-GWP refrigerant for 2030

SUCCESS STORIES/ACHIEVEMENTS/KEY FINDINGS
• Since Annex54 successfully started in 2019 with four member
countries, four new member countries joined in 2020.
• Annex 54 successfully complied 2019 Country report.
• 2019 Country report provides a comprehensive, most up-to-
date review of current research, product development and
regulation status of low-GWP refrigerants for the heat pump
application. It summarizes the collective efforts by
researchers, engineers and regulation committees across the
  industry.

ANNEX ACTIVITIES SINCE LAST EXCO REPORT
• Since the last ExCo meeting held in Gaithersburg, MD, US in November
2019, four countries joined the Annex 54.
• Collected draft country reports for Task 1: Review of state-of-the-art
technologies, created 2019 country report, received comments from
members, revised according to comments by members and submitted to
  ExCo in April 2020
• Planned to participate in the 13th IEA Heap Pump Conference (HPC), Jeju,
  Korea
• Planned the Workshop with seven speakers to present Annex 54 activities
  during the HPC
• Planned a third meeting during the HPC to discuss tasks and progress
  status among members
