between the members living in Calgary and to make Engineering and Geoscience Profession
popular to younger generation.
SECRETARY

Anna Morgan, P.Eng.
As a young, professional engineer in the oil and gas industry, I feel called to volunteer and bring
fresh set of eyes and contribute new ideas to this committee. This year, I am running as the
Calgary Branch Executive Committee Secretary. It is my hope to collaborate with engineers
and geoscientists, be a listening ear, share my talents with others, and help be a voice for all the
Calgary Branch members. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with family
and friends, traveling, hiking, and giving back to my community through a variety of volunteer
activities.

MEMBERS-AT-LARGE (Choose 9)
Note: The following list of candidates has been randomized and will be posted in this order on the ballot.

Dmitry Bogatkov, P.Eng.

I am a petroleum engineer with experience across Western Canada. As a Member-at-Large of
the Calgary Branch Executive Committee, I hope to strengthen the connection between APEGA
and its members as well as the connections between the APEGA members in Calgary. I also
feel strongly about reaching out and educating the public on the value and importance of the
engineering profession. Our beautiful city has seen more than its fair share of challenges in the
last five years or so. It is now more important than ever to bring our community together and
make the most out of our professional networks, extract the synergies and the human potential
concentrated in Calgary.

Russell Klimczuk-Ozon, E.I.T.

I am interested in becoming a member of the Calgary Branch Executive Committee in order to
help spread awareness of the diverse skill base in these trying economic times. I have found
myself underemployed over the last few years and lost several career opportunities due to the
recession and COVID-19. If I am elected to the committee, I hope to build opportunities for our
professionals to work in more diversified fields. By pursuing this strategy, I hope to not only help
to retain our talent here in Alberta but to secure stable careers for all Alberta professionals
through an economy resilient to economic shock.

Thomas Dyer, P.Eng.

I have spent my career working in, and now leading, high performing teams providing
Production Support and Site Reliability Engineering for Calgary-based technology companies
that provide both on-premise and cloud-based Software-as-a-Service products while acting as a
leader for efficient change management within compliance frameworks (such as SOC 1 and
SOC 2). With Calgary, and Alberta, becoming one of the fastest growing technology industry
centres in Canada, I aim to share and leverage my experience in software and technology, an
often underrepresented field in Engineering in Alberta, to help shape the path of and uphold the
values and practices of the Association, and the Engineering profession. With the uncertainties
in 2020, many things were not possible for the Branch Executive to accomplish; having a better
understanding now of how we can work and interact during the Pandemic presents new
opportunities for engagement in 2021.

Jennifer Lefevre-Kidd, P.Eng.

Being able to give back to the engineering profession is important to me and I feel I have a lot to
offer to APEGA as a volunteer using my experience in event management and outreach. I am
also passionate about inspiring young people to explore opportunities in the STEM fields and
see the value in speaking to young people about options that might not be readily visible to
them.
Michael Back, P.Eng.

I have experience in the areas of product management, software development and business
consulting in the energy industry. I am very interested in applying my expertise in the digital
transformation that is driving the industry forward and ensuring that the engineering and
geoscience professions lead the way in our transition to a low carbon future. I have also been
involved in interviewing young graduate engineers through on campus recruiting initiatives and
can offer my assessment of the required skills they need to succeed. I have recently gone
through unemployment and a career pivot myself so I feel that I can offer some guidance about
how the association can assist its members to thrive in our post-pandemic economic recovery. I
am very excited to serve as a volunteer on the executive committee and will work hard to
represent the interests of all members.

Srini Jeyakumar, P.Eng.

It's always good to work with the engineering community, initiate some new activities, share
experience, promote the application of engineering to other groups. I cherish volunteering with
such non-profit agencies.

Rehman Piracha, P.Eng.

I would like to join APEGA Calgary Branch Executive Committee to take part in making APEGA
a customer's centric organization and to be part of innovation on behalf of APEGA stakeholders.
I believe that I will be able to contribute and add value by leveraging my professional
engineering/construction experience and at the same time, it will enhance my professional
network.

Neil D’Souza, P.Eng.

I am a passionate energy professional with experience in roles requiring a combined expertise
in business and technology. Past work, volunteer and academic positions have provided me
with a good diversity of experiences I’d like to leverage to give back to the profession.
I strive to be a thought leader and innovator every single day and constantly look for ways to
challenge the status quo. I seek to learn something new daily and constantly traverse the path
of self-improvement. I am excited about meeting and engaging with other professionals in the
chapter as a member of the Calgary Branch Executive Committee.
When I’m not at work, you can find me pursuing a whole range of activities including reading,
volunteering, investing, learning new languages, hiking, golfing, exercising and cooking.

Vincent Chiew, P.Eng.

I am very proud of APEGA and would like to volunteer in this role or other capacities. With my
unique diverse background and network, I can apply cross pollination of ideas, networks, and
benefits between APEGA and the community at large. In addition, I can share and implement
proven lesson learned from other professional associations. Furthermore, I can mentor, coach,
and transfer my knowledge to others. I have had official board management training by the
provincial government. One of my goal is to make APEGA more relevant for the next generation
of members and public. Finally, I like to inject more humour and fun into APEGA, to better
engage and enhance relationship between APEGA and its members and the public. My motto is
work smart and play hard!
Nasser Eftekhar, P.Eng.

The primary reason I wish to join the Calgary Branch Executive is to meaningfully contribute to
serving APEGA and its mission. That is common sense. But to share the knowledge that I got
from my international work experience, I would like to open up the conversation, encourage
consideration among my peers and examine the decision to serve from another perspective.

Roghoyeh Salmeh, P.Eng.

I have passion for helping others and assist my fellow APEGA members in any way that I can. I
would like to volunteer for APEGA as my way of giving back to the society. Calgary Branch is
the first point of contact for members in the Calgary area and I would like to be part of the
executive to be able to help members achieve their professional development and networking
goals. I would like to provide services to the APEGA members and increase awareness about
APEGA. Throughout different activities, APEGA Calgary Branch provides opportunities for more
member engagement, networking and professional development. I want to help plan these
activities and reach out to the Calgary area students through science nights. In addition, APEGA
Calgary Branch promotes mentorship within the Calgary area. I would like to assist in
developing plans for increasing mentors and bringing the mentors from diverse backgrounds.

Nachiket Deshmukh, P.Eng.

I want to contribute to the community and serve the organization which has given me
recognition and opportunity to be the best at what I do. It will also give me a chance to learn and
add value to the governing process.

Tibor Kaldor, P.Eng.

To support APEGA by offering my creativity, skill as businessman, manager and administrator,
to give back to the professional organization and its members which have guided my career. My
contribution may be through webinars, luncheon presentations, professional development or
social events, outreach, mentorship or finding sponsors. APEGA branches function as the two-
way voice between APEGA and its members, and I would like to promote APEGA through
networking and enhancing the image of the professions to members and the public. Branch
executives deliver APEGA's strategy at branch locations and events and I would be proud to act
as the representative of APEGA.

Majid Tariq, P.Eng.

Being a professional APEGA member and have worked in various business segments and
countries. I would like to give back to the community. APEGA has an excellent network of
professional engineers with good ideas and some excellent achievements made. Volunteering
with APEGA would an excellent choice for me to network with like-minded people to share ideas
and develop new prospects.
