“Our Hotel – a second home”
Esteemed Guests,
Dear Friends of the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois
This hotel is like a second home to
me – whenever I come here I feel the
enchantment of its cozy familiarity;
the magic you only sense in places
near and dear to your heart. And
although I grew up in Gstaad, I also
have strong roots and feel at home
in Basel and the tri-border region.
When my father asked me whether
I would like to be an ambassador
for the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois,
I accepted with pleasure. I am often
referred to the hotel because the
name Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois
accompanies me as a trademark
on my truck to national and inter-
national showjumping tournaments. It is a very rewarding task for me, as
an active showjumper, to introduce the hotel on the banks of the river
Rhine to the best riders in the world: I enjoy telling them about its rich
history and about my favourite places in the hotel, for example, the bar
with its fireplace. I find it fascinating that it is such a lively meeting place,
not only for the hotel guests from all over the world, but that it is also a
place where the people of Basel like to meet and enjoy the ambiance.
I also truly appreciate the friendliness of the hotel staff which is the very
basis of a successful culture of hospitality.

I am delighted that you have come to visit Basel and explore our city with
its wide-ranging and exciting cultural life. In the autumn and winter season
I particularly recommend that you visit the Herbstmesse (autumn fair) and
its Chachelimärt (pottery market) located next to the Petersplatz, just a
five-minute stroll away from the Les Trois Rois. The big wheel, which is at
the Münsterplatz during the autumn fair, is also very much worth a visit –
if the weather is fine you have a view over the whole city of Basel and the
tri-border region from the top.
I often think about the Les Trois Rois, particularly during the Christmas
season, when I am at the stable with my horses and admire the lovely
Christmas wreaths from the hotel’s flower boutique Fleurs des Rois. And I
also find the Christmas decorations as well as the huge Christmas trees in
front of the hotel quite stunningly beautiful.
The current autumn and winter programme will be useful for planning your
stay – it presents information on some of the major events that are going
on in the city. Basel is well worth a visit – the variety of experiences it offers
will ensure your stay is a memorable one. The whole Les Trois Rois team
and my family looks forward to welcoming you, your family and friends!

LONGINES CSI
To mark the tenth anniversary of LONGINES CSI in Basel, the Fédération
Equestre Internationale (FEI) has reclassified this competition as a World
Cup showjumping event. Which is why the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois is
awaiting this equestrian gala in the new year even more feverishly than
usual – it is here that the world’s top showjumpers gather for an unfor-
gettable tournament. This international competition has some of the
largest prizes of the indoor Grand Prix events worldwide and a very special
atmosphere, which makes the journey to get here worth it, even from far
away. Experience the fascination of show-
jumping, the challenging course and the
thrilling competitions which offer visitors
entertainment and a spectacle of the
highest quality!
The Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois will be in the
St. Jakobshalle during the event with two
