City Cruises York carry thousands of private charter customers on board our vessels every
year. We have an exemplary safety record and our team have operated on the River Ouse for
over 30 years. All of our crew and captains undertake regular and focused training programs
that result in a high quality level of service throughout the products and packages that we offer.
All of our fleet is unified in livery with five boats to choose from, with a wide range of prices,
shapes and sizes for all your event requirements. Our boats are well maintained and have large
windows for viewing, with the majority having a modern interior and open area on the upper
deck.
Our experienced and knowledgeable sales team are ready to help you arrange your bespoke
event from start to finish. Once we have received an initial brief of your event requirements
(advising what your event is for, what is essential, type of food, entertainment, bar etc.), the
team will offer helpful tips and ideas to ensure that your event runs perfectly.

We would highly recommend that, whilst you consider the boats that are on offer, you allow
our experienced team to match your requirements, and the number of guests, to the ideal boat
for your event.

Your guests will be welcomed by the Captain at your chosen departure point of either King’s
Staith or Lendal Bridge and ensure that they are directed to the correct boat with a welcoming
smile.
Our experienced external suppliers will ensure that all your catering, entertainment and
decoration needs are delivered to the highest standard.

The Charter Fleet
City Cruises York’s extensive fleet of river cruisers can accommodate any event, from an intimate
couple to a larger group of up to one hundred and twenty guests for buffets, sit down meals or
canapé-style events.
Captain James Cook
Our largest and the most versatile vessel with regards to its facilities
which makes the ideal floating venue for any occasion; from formal
dinners, fun barbecues, buffets and casino nights, to a simple drinks
party. She can accommodate up to 120 guests, see below for our
maximum guest numbers depending on the package that you choose.
There are two ladies toilets and one gentlemen's toilet at the rear of

River Palace
The River Palace is one our most modern vessels and is a popular
choice for private charters. She was purpose built to operate on the
River Ouse.
Downstairs on the lower deck you and your guests can enjoy wonderful
views as you sail along by virtue of the floor to ceiling windows. The
forward deck can also be opened during warmer weather.

River Prince
River Prince is one of our largest vessels and as such is perfect for bigger
groups looking for a more informal celebration.
A spacious saloon features large panoramic windows, equipped with
tables and chairs around the perimeter, a wooden dance floor in the Facilities:
centre, space for informal buffets and the bar. Meanwhile, upstairs you Large heated lounge

This is our most accessible boat for disabled customers, with a ramped
entrance, one level flooring and disabled toilet. As such, the River
Duchess is a perfect private charter option for groups who would require
wheelchair access.

The River King is a great option for groups looking for an affordable
private charter option; it is now one of our most popular private charter
vessels for smaller groups celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and hen
parties.
Facilities:
Downstairs you will find a heated, enclosed and cosy saloon with large, Large open top deck and stern deck

We have two possible departure points for your private charter, each with set departure
and disembarkation times. We only have a limited number of birthing slots available each
evening at each landing. Ask our Sales Team for more information.
King’s Staith (King’s Staith,York,YO1 9SN)
We can accommodate up to 4 private charters from here per evening (dependant on
duration). Consequently, we do recommend booking your private charter to sail from here.
This is close to the Jorvik Viking Centre, York Dungeon, Clifford’s Tower, York Castle
Museum and the famous Kings Arms Pub.
The nearest car parks to here are:

Timings:
The earliest departure time from King’s Staith is 6:45 p.m.
The latest disembarkation time from King’s Staith is 10:15 p.m.
Lendal Bridge (Lendal Bridge,York,YO1 7DP)
At peak times we can only accommodate 1 private charter from here per evening
(dependant on duration).
This is close to York Railway Station, York Minster, Yorkshire Museum Gardens and the
National Railway Museum.
The nearest car parks to here are:

Esplanade Car Park, YO1 6FZ
Timings:
The earliest departure time from Lendal Bridge is 7 p.m.

Private Charter Hire Pricing
The cost for privately chartering one of the City Cruises York fleet is determined largely by
your choice of vessel, and then the date and time that you would like to hire. As our fleet
operate sightseeing and dining cruises during peak times of the year, these will be more
expensive than low season and off peak periods.
The calendars on the next 3 pages highlight the various prices for 2018.
Private Charter Hire FAQs:
1. A minimum 3 hour hire applies on a Friday or Saturday evening (3.5 hour for Captain James Cook on
selected dates).
2. Due to our alcohol license, the latest time that we can disembark passengers from the King’s Staith
Landing is 10:15 p.m., whilst the latest time at Lendal Bridge is 10:30 p.m.
3. Our maximum cruise hire duration is 3.5 hours (maximum 3 hours in December).
4. 3½ hour hires are only available for groups ordering from our catering menus.
5. Boat hire is zero rated for VAT.
6. Set terms and conditions apply for Hen Parties, Birthdays and Student Parties.
7. Loyalty reward of 10% will apply to charter customers on repeat bookings (excludes 2 hour hire).
8. We require the occasion to be stated at the time of booking. Parties booking under false pretences will
not be allowed to board and no refunds will be given.
9. Daytime hire is only available for 4 hours, from 12 Noon until 4 p.m. on selected dates.
10. Daytime hire charged at the Silver price band will be charged at the equivalent of the 3.5 hour hire price.

Dining Cruises
Don’t require a bespoke service or budgets are limited?
Don’t worry as we can offer an affordable alternative for small groups looking to celebrate a
special occasion with their loved ones.
Rather than a private hire, we could offer you a reserved area for your party on one of our two
daytime dining cruises. Both cruises sail through the city and to Bishopthorpe Palace, official
residence of His Grace the Archbishop of York. They both feature a combination of live
commentary and relaxing background music.
Let us make your event affordable and hassle free, choose from the set package options below:
Lunch Cruise
Reserve an area aboard this delightful cruise and enjoy a delicious
2 course, buffet-style lunch served on board the Captain James Cook.
Your dessert will also be accompanied by a tea or coffee.
Groups of 20 or more will receive a 10% discount, complimentary
decorations and a bottle of Prosecco for the organiser.
Groups of up to 40 will be seated on the same deck.
Groups of 80 can book the entire boat. Details:

Sparkling Wines:
Castellblanc Brut Cava (Spain) £23.00
Refreshingly dry, with citrus fruit flavours, including lemon, ripe melon and peach.
This Spanish Cava uses the traditional grapes Macabeo and Parellada to create the fizz.
Castell Llord Cava Classic (Spain) £23.00
Great quality Spanish Cava which is bright and clean, with fruit flavours.
It leaves a refreshing taste on the palate.
Conti D’Arco Prosecco Brut (Italy) £24.00
Produced from grapes grown in the North West of Italy.
This classic Prosecco has an abundance of fizz, with a hint of fresh apple and pear.
Prosecco Curvee 1821 (Italy) £24.00
Attractively intense & very fruity. This Italian wine is well balanced and appealing
to the palate. Pleasant, intense and smooth with floral notes of almond.
Castellblanc Brut Rosé (Spain) £23.00
Aged up to 18 months, prior to release. This Spanish Rosé is a
salmon pink wine, which shows initial taste of bramble & blackcurrant fruit.
Curvee 1821 Sparkling Rose (Italy) £25.00
A lightly coloured Italian wine, which is well blended. Pleasant, intense and fruity.
Soft and smooth with a hint of almond.

Lanson Black Label (France) £59.99
To the palate are bouquets of ripe fruit and citrus fruit to create a sensation of
fullness, fruitiness, and lightness. A pleasant racy wine with a long and lingering taste.
