Bitesize CPD for busy practitioners
SAC Consulting: Veterinary Services are offering a
programme of evening CPD meetings. The following
programme of talks will run throughout the winter of
2017/18 in Dumfries, Kelso and Perth.

      Talk 1: Stop! Ewe should think Biosecurity

      Talk 2: Mycoplasma infections in cattle,
              what’s new? (C Mason)

   Talk 3 (i): Making farm animal practice
               work without critically important
               antimicrobials. Prescriptions for change
               (D Tisdall)

  Talk 3 (ii): Transition cow feeding and
               management (W Tulley)

 APHA will participate in the event(s) with a short
 communication on Avian Influenza in backyard flocks

About the Speakers
George King Cert VC BVMS MRCVS
George graduated in 1994 from Glasgow. He has worked in mixed practice,
small animal practice and in the Government Veterinary Services before
returning to Glasgow Veterinary School in 2014 as a Veterinary Clinician
(small ruminants). He has run a small sheep flock since 2001. George is
passionate about improving the welfare, economics and sustainability of
sheep farming in the UK

Colin Mason BVM&S BSc Cert CHP MRCVS
Colin Mason works for SAC Consulting: Veterinary Services based in
Dumfries. As well as working as part of the team at the Dumfries Disease
Surveillance Centre carrying out disease investigation and surveillance
activities. He is also involved with dairy research and herd health work at
the Dairy Research and Innovation Centre based at Crichton Royal Farm in
Dumfries. His main interests are young stock health and lameness in dairy
cows.

Will Tulley BVM&S CertCHP MRCVS MANZCVS
After 11 years in farm practice in the UK Will moved to New Zealand to take
up the position of Senior lecturer in Dairy Cattle Health and Production at
Massey University, where he continues to hold an adjunct lecturers position
in Ruminant Nutrition. He returned to the UK in 2014 and joined the
Evidence Group where he now leads the farm consultancy service. Will has
particular interests in the nutrition of dairy cattle and the integration of feed
production and supply with farm systems and farm profitability. He holds
the RCVS certificate in Cattle Health and Production and Membership of
the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Ruminant
Nutrition and regularly provides knowledge exchange to farmers, vets and
the wider industry.

David Tisdall BVSc (Hons) CertCHP FHEA MRCVS
David graduated from University Bristol in 2006 and has 10-years’
experience of farm animal practice. As clinical lead of Langford Farm Animal
Practice and Teaching Fellow in Farm Animal Science at the University
of Bristol, he led transformational change towards more responsible
antimicrobial use on farms, achieving more than a 90% reduction in the use
of critically important antimicrobials, alongside improving herd health. He
has particular interests in the management and prevention of production
diseases in dairy cattle and motivating change towards more responsible
and sustainable use of medicines in farm animals. David has recently taken
up the post of Senior Teaching Fellow in Production Animal Medicine at the
University Of Surrey School Of Veterinary Medicine.

BVMS PhD MRCVS, Graeme Cochrane BVM&S MRCVS and Susana Ramos
LicVM MVPH MRCVS.

attend all 3 meetings and pay £80 (offer restricted to one
person attending all three meetings).

Course Fees
Payment is accepted by credit/debit card or by cheque.
The cost for attending an individual meeting is £33 (Inc 20% VAT) and
for all 3 meetings is £80 (Inc 20% VAT).
Pay online
Paying online is the quickest and easiest payment method. SRUC offers
a secure online payment facility for debit or credit card payments.

Pay by post
Where it is not possible to use the online payment system, you can
send payment in full by post in the form of a cheque. Please send your
payment with your completed registration form. Cheques should be
made payable to SRUC. Any bookings not accompanied by payment will
be treated as provisional and confirmed bookings will take preference.
Substitutions
Substitutions are normally possible but may be restricted by
certificating and awarding body requirements. Please contact the
course administrator for details.
Cancellations & Refunds
In the event of any delegate being unable to attend on the booked
date a 10% cancellation fee will be deducted from any refund. You
must notify us in writing not less than 10 working days before the
event. Cancellations after this time are subject to payment of the full
fee. Where prior registration of candidates with an awarding body is
required, any refund may reflect any non-returnable registration fees
incurred by SRUC on your behalf.
Whilst SRUC reserves the right to amend any scheduled event or to
cancel for whatever reason, we shall endeavour to run all courses as
scheduled. Should we require to cancel or reschedule a course you
will receive the option of alternative date(s) or a full refund. VAT is
charged on eligible courses at 20%. All SRUC services are subject to the
company’s standard terms and conditions.
