Blarney Public Speaking
The “Blarney” is our in-school public speaking competition. All students in Yrs 3-6 will present a
speech on Monday and Tuesday and selected students from Stages 2-3 (two students from
each year in Yrs 3-6) will be chosen to present a speech on a predetermined topic in front of
the school in the “Blarney”. The “Blarney” will start at 1:45pm next Thursday 29 October (T4W3).
Fun fact: Our “Blarney” is named after The Blarney Stone (Irish: Cloch na Blarnan) a block of
limestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle, Blarney in Ireland. According to legend,
kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of the gab (great eloquence or skill at flattery.
