set Freshman schedules. Mrs. Gulley has met with the majority of 8 th graders prior to their visit.
Mrs. Gulley will finish up meeting with the final 8th graders prior to them meeting with these
high school staff members next week. Parents please expect a “Freshman Course Request” form
to come home next week. Your 8th grader will be expected to obtain your parent/guardian
signature and return this form no later than Friday, March 13th.

Indiana Career Explorer Accounts:
 Mrs. Gulley and Mr. Canary have been busy making sure each 8th grader has created an Indiana
Career Explorer Account. Please ask your 8th grader about their personal Indiana Career Explorer
account which can be located at www.indianacareerexplorer.com. Mrs. Gulley has personally
made sure each 8th grader’s user and password for this account is located on their 4-year high
      school grad plan started.
 Indiana Career Explorer is a website implemented by the State that allows students to begin
listing their future career thoughts and ideas. Each 8th grader has also taken two career interest
assessments and the results can be located here.
 Please visit the Indiana Career Explorer website with your 8th grader so they may show you the
      following:
      1. Review the six steps of the “Graduation Promise” which your 8th grader read, understood
            and checked.
      2. Review the high school diploma options (Core 40, Academic Honors and/or Technical
            Honors).
      3. Understand the new “Graduation Pathways” requirements for all classes beginning with the
            class of 2023 and beyond.
      4. Utilize this website for many of your child’s career planning needs in making sure high school
class electives match such career desires.

High School Four-Year Plan
 Mrs. Gulley has met with most 8th graders to establish a four (4) year Graduation Plan. She will
finish meeting with all 8th graders by Spring Break. Understand this “Excel” four-year high
school plan is just that, a plan. It is not set. Its purpose is to simply get students to begin thinking
about their career objectives to assist them in choosing appropriate high school electives.
Twenty-First Century Scholars: Current 7th & 8th graders may apply now. Registration must
