Spring Term 2020Welcome
Welcome to the Gildredge House and Active School Twilight Activity Booklet for the Spring Term 2020.
These activities are for students in Years 7 and 8 only.
Twilight Activities are optional and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Once your son / daughter
has decided which of the Gildredge House Twilight Activities they wish to sign up to, please navigate to
your son / daughter’s sQuid account to book and pay. Please note that payments, once made, are non-
refundable.

Gildredge House Twilight Activities are booked and paid for on a termly basis. Once your payment is
received, your son / daughter will be deemed to have opted into the selected Twilight Activities.
Friday 13th December 2019 at 8.00pm: Bookings open for Gildredge House Twilight Activities.
Friday 3rd January 2020 at 12.00am midnight: Bookings close for Gildredge House Twilight
Activities. After this date, no further bookings can be secured and no exceptions will be
made.
Tuesday 14th January 2020: Gildredge House and Active School Twilight Activities commence.
Thursday 26th March 2020: Gildredge House and Active School Twilight Activities finish.
Parent Declaration
1. I understand that there will be no opportunity for my son / daughter to opt out on odd days during
the term unless they are attending a medical appointment for which I confirm that I will provide the
appropriate evidence. In the event that my son / daughter needs to be absent for exceptional
circumstances, I confirm that I will request a Withdrawal from Learning using the appropriate form
which I will submit to the Head Teacher, at least 14 days in advance of the requested absence.
2. I agree to pay the relevant costs for my son / daughter’s Twilight Activities for the term and
understand that there will be no refunds should a Twilight Activity be missed for any reason.

Tuesday
CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING
Location: Sports Field and Off-Site Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 20 students
We will be using the beautiful local countryside to improve our health by cross country running. Over
the hour, we will leave the school and take the shortest route possible to reach the stunning country-
side around us. The aim is to travel as far as possible on each run, with three key runs (first, middle
and last) being used to highlight individual improvement.
BIG BANG SCIENCE CLUB
Location: S2 Cost: £24.00 per term
Max: 25 students
Impressive and fun Science experiments and demonstrations. Big bangs, fire and smoke, as well as a
few scientific conundrums.
GIRLS CRICKET: YEARS 6-8 ONLY
Location: Sports Hall Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 30 Students
Catch, throw, learn to bat and bowl. Develop your skills and you could join one of the most successful
Gildredge House sports teams. All abilities are welcome.Tuesday
FILM CLUB
Location: E4 Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 25 students
Come to Film Club and discover the world of film beyond Disney! Yes, we will certainly be watching
well known films such as Harry Potter, but we will also be exploring more unusual films including
anime, classics, old Hollywood and foreign language films. This is more than just passive viewing. Film
Club will be your first introduction to the fascinating and diverse world of film and cinema.
TOM’S RHINOS RUGBY SCHOOL: BOYS - YEARS 6-8 ONLY
Led by: Tom Shuttleworth Cost: £54.00 per term
Max: 40 Students
Rugby School will be coached by an RFU Level 2 Coach. Tom has over twelve years experience of coach-
ing children and has coached, or been a performance analyst, with England Rugby, Ireland Rugby,
Wasps Academy and both men and women’s Sussex County squads, to name but a few.
Tom will create a fun and competitive environment for children to enhance their core skills and enjoy
the contact element of rugby. Advanced skills, evasion and tactics will be developed in these sessions
to improve understanding of how players make decisions and create opportunities for their teammates.
Tom aims to create a high level of skill and the drive to succeed in participants.

Wednesday
KEYBOARD CLUB
Location: PA2 Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 25 students
Brush up on your piano and keyboard skills with Mr Willis. Beginners and more advanced players are
welcome, including those who take grade examinations.Wednesday
WARHAMMER
Location: C4 Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 20 students
Warhammer is a table-top miniature wargame with a medieval fantasy theme that simulates battles
between terrestrial armies from different factions. Players use miniature models to represent warriors
and vehicles, and take turns moving their model warriors across the battlefield to fight the models off
other players. The outcome of fights between the models are determined by the roll of a dice.
Students can build and paint their own miniature models, play the game or both.
CREATIVE WRITING CLUB
Location: E3 Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 25 students
Creative Writing Club is a chance to express yourself creatively in an environment that thrives off
creative writing and imagination. Write stories, poems, novels or anything you want to, with the help
of other students who share a passion for writing.

GIRLS NETBALL ACADEMY: 4.00-5.00pm - YEARS 5-8 ONLY
Location: Sports Hall Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 30 Students
Players will develop technical skill and consistency, tactical understanding and decision making, flair
and fitness levels as well as versatility, discipline and a strong work ethic. All abilities are welcome.

Location: T3 Cost: £15.00 per term
Max: 20 students
Fantastic fun for foodies! Fast-paced, focused cooking that will enhance the culinary skills of anyone
interested in Food Technology. Participants will be cooking every week and all ingredients will be
provided.
DRAMA
Location: C2 Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 20 students
Are you the next Leonardo DiCaprio or Jennifer Lawrence? If so come along to Drama Club and
develop your acting skills.
ART
Location: T2 Cost: £10.00 per term
Max: 20 students
Come and join us for some fun Art activities, including knitting, quilting, printing, paintings, stitching
and sketching. All tastes will be catered for and there will be access to the Internet for students to
research their favourite interests.
