Con el fin de aportar a la consolidación del convenio entre Uniandes y el Cabildo Magdalena-
Guajira se busca la participación de profesores e investigadores en los siguientes temas:
- Propuesta ambientalmente sostenible y socialmente incluyente en el modelo de negocios
ecoturísticos del parque Tayrona. Se espera un enfoque de negocios ecoturísticos orientados a la
protección, la diversidad cultural y el bienestar de indígenas y campesinos.
- Cooperación para crear un instrumento financiero que solucione el desabastecimiento de
agua en Santa Marta y al mismo tiempo proteja la fábrica de agua de la Sierra Nevada, esto
usando alternativas de traer el agua del rio Magdalena o el uso de tecnología de desalinización /

- Desarrollo de líneas de investigación para prevenir y mitigar los riesgos de desaparición física y
cultural del pueblo Arhuaco. Esto implica evitar la pérdida y deterioro progresivo de la
transmisión intergeneracional de la cultura y fortalecer los canales a través de los cuales se
transmiten los rasgos de la identidad cultural en un contexto en el que la interculturalidad y la
exposición a la sociedad mayoritaria es cada vez más creciente. (Agradecemos a los profesores

The next round of IKI Medium Grants has begun. As part of the International Climate Initiative
(IKI), the German Federal Environment Ministry has published a new call for funding, with
proposals being sought for projects in developing and emerging countries. The IKI Medium
Grants programme is seeking out ideas for projects worldwide that focus on adapting to the
Covid-19 pandemic and climate change, as well as those projects with a focus on ambitious
climate action.

IKI Medium Grants are aimed at civil society actors based in Germany that work in concert with
general
local partners in selected ODA-eligible implementing countries (Colombia included) to put
measures in place to intensify North South cooperation on climate action, adaptation to the
impacts of climate change and biodiversity conservation. IKI Medium Grants explicitly aim at
strengthening these civil society actors and their international networks. Specifically, IKI Medium
Grants support project activities that address innovative, bottom-up contributions for
implementing the Paris Agreement and the Convention on Biological Diversity. To that end, the
BMU sets varying funding priorities each year, for which interested parties can apply with
innovative project ideas. The funding programme is part of Germany’s contribution towards
financing international climate action and biodiversity conservation.
A grant of between EUR 300,000 and a maximum of EUR 800,000 may be granted per project.
Projects funded through the programme should be completed within a period of 24 months to a
maximum of 36 months. Follow-up funding by IKI funds is not foreseen. Institutional funding,
purely research-based projects and predominantly investment-based projects are not eligible.
Funding approaches: The 2021 call for applications for IKI Medium Grants is pursuing the
following funding approaches: I. Local implementation of pilot projects; II. Building andexpanding capacities. Applicants should select one approach. A combination of both approaches
is also possible.
Thematic funding priorities: I. COVID-19 and adaptation to the impacts of climate change –
Promoting resilience in local populations and communities. II. Developing, supporting and
strengthening participatory processes and methods of ambitious, inclusive climate action.

The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) is to improve the
understanding, diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding

The Human Cognitive and Behavioral Science RFA prioritizes research that produces foundational
knowledge about the neurobehavioral differences associated with ASD, which will directlyinform the development or refinement of tools needed for translational efforts, such as
biomarkers and outcome measures. Special emphasis is placed on objective, quantitative
measures that may be used in conjunction with standardized clinical measures and genomic
information to better triangulate phenotypic and neurobiological variability within and across
individuals with ASD.
In particular, we encourage studies which capitalize on approaches to behavioral analysis that
are informed by recent advances in computer vision and machine learning, as well as
psychophysics and non-invasive neuroscience techniques (e.g., EEG and MRI). SFARI has a strong
interest in developmentally focused studies in areas that include, but are not limited to,
communicative, social and ritualistic/stereotyped behavior, as well as sensory and motor
function. SFARI also recognizes the importance of domains of function, such as attention,
learning and memory, and sleep, in influencing core ASD diagnostic domains. Applications may
propose either laboratory-based or real-world measures of behavior (i.e., wearables/”digital
phenotyping”).
Level and Duration of Funding
The total budget is $750,000 or less, inclusive of 20 percent indirect costs, over a period of up to
three (3) years. For projects that propose 2–3 years of research, progress will be critically
evaluated at the end of each annual funding period before support for the upcoming year will be
approved. Allowable indirect costs to the primary institution for subcontracts are not included in
the $750,000 total budget threshold (see grant policies).
Eligibility
All applicants and key collaborators must hold a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree and have a
faculty position or the equivalent at a college, university, medical school or other research
facility.
Principal investigators (PIs) who do not have substantial ASD clinical expertise should include a
close collaborator with such expertise on their grant application (e.g., multi-PI application).
Applications may be submitted by domestic and foreign nonprofit organizations; public and
private institutions, such as colleges, universities, hospitals, laboratories, and units of state and
local government; and eligible agencies of the federal government. There are no citizenship or
country requirements.

The Junior Research Fellowship Programme supports external or local recent postdocs (at most 5
years past receiving their PhD) to work on a project of their own in mathematics or physics that
is either connected to a research direction carried out at the University of Vienna or to an ESI
thematic programme. The ESI provides support for a Junior Research Fellow to work at the ESI
for a time period between one and four months. Proposals should be submitted at least 4
months prior to the envisaged time period and consist of:

wishing to pursue postdoctoral research in a world-class scientific environment. The Fellowships
comprise a very competitive package including stipend, health insurance and additional
benefits. The most successful fellows will also be eligible, upon completion, to apply for ICGEB
Early Career Research Grants to support their own research programmes as young PIs upon
return to an ICGEB Member State (Colombia included).
Financial support:
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of a 1-year extension.
Monthly stipend: Trieste (Italy): Euro 2,000, New Delhi (India): US$ 1,590, Cape
Town (South Africa): ZAR 18,750.
Descripción Travel: the fellowship includes provision for travel expenses from the
general participant’s home country to the ICGEB lab at the beginning of the fellowship
and a return travel provision upon completion of the fellowship.
Medical health insurance coverage is provided for the duration of the fellowship.
All Research costs will be supported by the research group’s budget.
Visa/permit of stay application and renewal costs are reimbursed.
Support for participation in Meetings and Courses is generally provided by the
Group Leader / PI.

titulado Mujeres en la educación superior: ¿La ventaja femenina ha puesto fin a las
desigualdades de género?
El evento iniciará con las palabras de bienvenida de Stefania Giannini, subdirectora general de
Educación de la UNESCO; y de Moira Faul, directora ejecutiva de la NORRAG. Para la ocasión,
UNESCO IESALC lanzará oficialmente un informe comparativo sobre la ventaja femenina en la
educación superior y la persistencia de las desigualdades de género, presentado por Daniele
Vieira, coordinadora de investigación y analista de políticas del instituto internacional.
Después de la presentación del informe, Woohyang Chloe Sim, investigadora de la Facultad de
Educación y Artes y Ciencias Integradas de la Universidad de Waseda con experiencia regional en
los Estados del Golfo; Rekha Pappu, profesora adjunta de la Escuela de Educación Azim Premji
Descripción del Instituto de Ciencias Sociales Tata con experiencia regional en Asia Meridional; Ann Therese
general Ndong-Jatta, directora de la Oficina Multisectorial para África Oriental de la UNESCO en Nairobi;
y José Antonio Quinteiro, coordinador de programas del IESALC con experiencia en América
Latina y el Caribe, dialogarán sobre los hallazgos del informe y el estado actual de la
participación de las mujeres en sus regiones de especialización a partir de las siguientes
preguntas:
¿Cuál es el estado actual de la participación de las mujeres en la educación
superior (como estudiantes, profesoras o con cargos directivos) en su región y
dónde considera que persisten las desigualdades de género?
¿Qué políticas, tanto a nivel nacional como institucional, parecen funcionar en
su región?
¿Qué perspectivas observa para el futuro de su región, en particular con
respecto a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Agenda 2030?
Al finalizar las presentaciones, los panelistas responderán a las preguntas de la audiencia. El
director del IESALC, Francesc Pedró, expondrá las conclusiones del encuentro.

This webinar will look at the impact of Covid-19 on common non-communicable diseases such as
diabetes. It will provide an opportunity to compare experiences and discuss different approaches
to NCD prevention and control in the time of Covid.
The pandemic has highlighted the finely balanced relationship between communicable diseases

and NCDs. Public health measures to deal with Covid-19 have been given priority over the
general
interventions used to prevent and control NCD risk factors such as tobacco, alcohol and sugar
controls and promotional campaigns for physical activity and healthy diets. They have also
disrupted the regular care required by patients with NCDs.
The webinar will enable researchers to share information that can be used to informgovernment policies and decision-making.
The upcoming APRU Public Health Crisis Management webinar is led by The University of Sydney
and in collaboration with three other APRU universities (National University of Singapore, Peking
University and University of California Los Angeles).

Descripción El planeta enfrenta una crisis sanitaria, humanitaria, social y económica sin precedentes, a raízgeneral de la pandemia global del COVID-19. En ese sentido, América Latina y el Caribe ha sido uno de
los focos más afectados con esta pandemia. Los efectos de esta crisis han paralizado y
desacelerado las economías de los países y las sociedades sufren restricciones de movilización
más o menos severas, medidas solo comparables a las de situaciones de guerra.
Por otro lado, esta crisis ha demostrado que es necesaria la colaboración intersectorial para
lograr superar esta etapa, y así poder impulsar una transformación económica, social y
ambiental que permita la creación de nuevos modelos de desarrollo sostenibles. Los desafíos a
futuro son varios y de gran magnitud, y la Agenda 2030 con sus 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo
Sostenible (ODS) se presentan como una oportunidad única para enfrentarlos.
Bajo este contexto 8 Universidades de Latinoamérica se unen para impulsar el proyecto
"Conversaciones de Futuro: ODS-COVID", el cual busca facilitar conversaciones en torno a la
Agenda 2030, reuniendo académicos expertos en iniciativas que hoy están enfocadas en
responder a cada uno de los 17 ODS, para así promover el desarrollo de mesas temáticas que
permitan impulsar la Agenda 2030 a lo largo de todo América Latina y el Caribe.
Durante el 2021 se irán generando conversaciones de impacto en torno a cada ODS, entre
académicos y lideres de iniciativas que hoy trabajan para ayudar a cumplir las metas de cada
ODS.

Semana 4. ODS PAZ Y ALIANZAS. 29 de Noviembre al 4 de Diciembre.
