CROATIA has become the country that is climbing up on
everybody’s bucket list for summer vacation. This is one
of the richest stretches of land for natural beauty. Land
of glittering Adriatic Sea, great history and picturesque
islands. Adriatic Sea has more than 1000 islands located
along the Croatian coast. Origins of the name ADRIATIC
are linked to Etruscan settlement of Adria, which derives
its name from Illyrian ADUR meaning WATER.
Croatia presents one of the sunniest places in the
Mediterranean Basin. Sunniest islands are Hvar and
Korcula, with 2700 hrs of sunshine per year.
HVAR – one of the world’s finest islands. With 2800
hours sunshine per year, the island presents one of the
sunniest places in the Mediterranean basin. Covered
in lavender fields, effusive and vibrant in the summer,
peaceful in the winter. This a year-round sailing
destination has the old-world charm of the Greek islands
combined with the elegance of Venice. Hvar harbour
swells with beautiful yachts and beautiful people, who
gather after supper at Carpe Diem, the mothership of
Croatia’s coastal clubs.
KORCULA is the greenest Croatian island covered with
aromatic pine tries; Greek settlers named the island
Korkyra Melaina (Black Korčula). Legend says Korcula
is the birthplace of the first “travel influencer” MARKO
POLO. Because of its cultural heritage and numerous
legends told over the generations it is undoubtedly
one of the most interesting islands on the Adriatic. The
town of Korcula is perched on a peninsula surrounded
by strong 13th century walls reinforced with towers and
bastions by the Venetians after 1420. The town is known
also as “little Dubrovnik” but has its own identity: the vibe
is more relaxed and the whole town is enchanting.

Food quality on board is of paramount importance to create the complete vacation experience. Even if the
accommodation is spotless and the crew excellent, a mediocre chef can spoil the guests’ enjoyment. Adriana
Bošnjak, the charter broker with Ocean Sailing House agrees. She said, “Once I match the yacht and location
to my clients’ needs, the next thing I do is to ensure that the chef can work his or her magic.”
The concept of the chef’s table originated from an age-old practice of chefs entertaining their family and
friends in the kitchen as they worked. If space allowed, they sat at a small table tucked in an out-of-the-way
corner; if not, they squeezed in at the pass. In time, enterprising restaurateurs began granting their regular
patrons the opportunity to walk through the swinging doors for a behind-the-scenes dinner in the kitchen. And
what was once an invitation-only VIP perk eventually evolved into a fully bookable table for the general public.
Galley (yachts kitchen) is located in the centre of the yacht. The guests have the opportunity to walk through
the doors for a behind-the-scenes peek in the kitchen and enjoy the exclusive right to have meals prepared
by the chef for only 8 of them with no distractions. Doesn’t this sound like a true Chef’s table experience?
