Arrival
When you arrive at the airport in St. Lucia, you have to go through customs, where they will stamp your passport and look at a
St. Lucia Declaration Form that you bring that will state where you are staying on the island. To make life simple, write that you are
staying at the “Anse Chastanet Hotel and Villas in Soufriere” (They won’t know about our Caille Blanc Residence).

Suggest that you bring in from duty free from the States, 3 bottles of your favorite alcoholic beverage. (If need be, you can buy it
on the island, but we always feel it’s better when it hasn’t been sitting in the tropical heat of St. Lucia for months.)
Taxi |Van
James, a local driver (nicknamed: Poye – pronounced like boy with a “p”), will be outside when you walk through
customs/immigration. You will have nothing to declare and will tell the agent (if asked) that you’re going to have a vacation at the
Anse Chastanet Hotel. James Taxi/Van will charge you $60 USD each way, which is the family price. His phone number is:
758 584 7359. He’s been alerted to your arrival date.

Dress Code
Generally speaking, there is no place on our beautiful side of the island that requires a jacket for men or dressy clothes for
women. Many an evening has been spent at our villa in casual outfits – shorts and t-shirts. Even at the Five Star Jade Mountain
Hotel, a short distance away, a nice shirt and slacks for men and smart/casual and flat shoes for women are fine (absolutely do
not wear high heels). A very light shawl for a woman could be appropriate for a cool night. DO NOT bring any expensive jewelry
or vintage watches. Nice costume jewelry works perfectly.
Amenities
Most of our bedroom suites have their own space and patio area for your private moments. You can lounge and dine around the
fountain under the Treetop Pavilion. And if the water fountain is too loud, the switch to turn it off is located in the kitchen (10 ft
away). The original two-bedroom villa has a living room that can accommodate 8-10 friends comfortably. We installed a 42” high
definition flat screen television and have about 50 movie DVDs available. Unfortunately, or fortunately, broadcast television is not
available on this side of the mountain. I’ve asked Albert, our Security Guard, to make sure that he opens the entertainment
cabinet at 6PM and closes it when the last person leaves. We have a small collection of books and suggest you bring your
favorites, which we’d be happy to accept as a donation for our library. Our staff is friendly and will go out of their way to please
you. We think you’ll enjoy the home cooked meals and local flavors of West Indian cooking.
Air Conditioning
Please Note: You may not need the AC since the fans located above the four poster king size bed should keep you quite cool at
night; if you do, kindly shut off the AC unit when leaving the room. Since we’re in a delicate island environment, we want to refrain
from overload on the electric equipment. Please leave the remote control for the AC in the room when you leave.
It’s recommended that you use the safari style nets around the bed when you sleep.

Lock-up Closet & Keys
Every bedroom suite has its own walk-in closet for your belongings and valuables. Our staff has been with us for more than 15
years and is well trusted, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Kindly lock the closet and room when you leave. Our housekeepers,
Marilyn and Paulea, have keys for all. IMPORTANT: When you retire at night, lock the door behind you and make sure that all the
louvre doors are locked around the room. Any problems with these push up locks can be solved by Marilyn or Albert, our security
guard. Grotto Suite on lower level has one separate key for both entrance and closet. All other Suites use Red Key for entrance,
Yellow Key for closet, and Green Key for kitchen. A standard key is used (if needed) for front & back entrance gate locks.
Security
Albert, our security guard, will be on premises from 6PM till 6AM. Please be certain to keep your computer and cameras in your
room lock-up closet when you retire. Each closet has its own hotel type safe, which is a good place for passports, cash, watches
and jewelry. The owners have never had a problem with theft since they’ve always followed the above advice. The people of St.
Lucia are wonderful, lovely, happy people, even though most of them are quite poor by our standards except for our electrician
    and plumber.

Electricity
Important to note that most electricity is 220V European standard. Depending on your location in the suites, we’ve introduced US
110 outlets or we have transformers available. Please be careful if you’re plugging in a US appliance, make sure you’re putting it
in the right socket or it will blow out your unit. We have a few blow dryers. Make sure not to touch any electric outlets if your
    hands or feet are wet.

                                                                                                                             ,
We presently have two phones in the house located in the living room and the kitchen. We also have a wiresless internet connection
located near the living room phone which should provide coverage for most suites. Best to use your cell phone for commnication and
depending on your service, it’s a good idea to notify your provider than you’re going to St. Lucia. It is very expensive to be in roam
mode, but good to have a phone to receive and make calls. The telephone number in the livingroom and kitchen is: 758 459 5905.
Blackberry’s and iPhones work at most every location in St. Lucia.

The running water in the villa is a mixture of rain and town water. It is advisable to drink only bottled water, but for brushi
                                                                                                                              ng teeth
and bathing, the water is fine. Please do not waste water, because it does not come from the town everyday in the dry season.
A Few Basic Facts
It is not advisable to invite strangers to our villa Residence. There are penalties for the use of illegal drugs including marijuana.
Avoid asking directions from anyone other than a uniformed tourist hostess or police. Never take anyone as a guide or allow a
stranger into your vehicle. The Anse Chastanet Mountain Road, right outside of our villa, is difficult and dangerous to walk.
Soufriere is not a shopping destination village. And it is not recommended that you stroll that area. We have one tiny supermarket
and you’d be best served having our staff go there for you.

Furnishing
Please do not sit on upholstered sofas with wet clothing or sun cream. More importantly, the stone base around the pool will
absorb marks from wet glasses, bottled beverages, etc., so please use the tables for those items.
65ft Infinity Pool
Absolutely no jumping or diving. The pool at the low end is 3 ft 7” x 5 ft 2”. There’s a sitting ledge under water on one side of the
pool. Hold the railing going down the steps to make sure you don’t slip. There’s a waterfall from the pool to the wading pool on
the next level with very narrow steps. The wading pool is 5 ft deep.

Driving
Based upon driving St. Lucia mountain roads for over 15 years, we strongly suggest you rely on James’ taxi/van to take you to
the beach, lunch, points of interest, off premises dinners, etc. We have worked out a pricing structure for our guests with James,
that in most cases makes more sense than spending $75-$90/day for a jeep.
The owners are happy to provide you with your first dinner meal on arrival prepared by our cook, Marilyn Antoine. Marilyn and
Paulea arrive around 9AM and can prepare chevre or local cheddar cheese omelettes, scrambled eggs, sunnyside or basted
eggs, bacon, oatmeal with home grown bananas, toasted creole rolls (from the local bakery), fresh squeezed juice (depending
on season), and local coffee or tea. If you have your own favorite coffee or tea, we strongly suggest you bring it to St. Lucia.
Marilyn and/or our manager, Brian Moss, can generally take care of purchasing your food requirements. The food is charged back
to you at our cost, plus 20% for petrol expenses. (We have a mini supermarket locally, but most of the food we purchase is from
the big supermarkets in Rodney Bay (1 3/4 hours drive from our villa)). Brian also has contacts in the nearby town of Choiseul
(35 minutes away) for fresh fish/catch of the day (Red Snapper, Kingfish, Mahi-Mahi and Lobster, if in season). If you decide on
your dinner a day in advance, Marilyn can prepare the dinner meal prior to her departure at 3PM the next day. All of her
homemade dishes can be heated up and if youwish to grill meat or fish, she can have it readily prepared in her marinade to put on
the grill. She can also prepare a local green and tomato salad that can be served with dressing on the side. Marilyn is able to buy
local vegetables in the nearby town, so ask her to prepare some of her special hors d’oeuvres that can be either snacks for lunch,
or heated up prior to your sunset cocktail hour. Marilyn bakes an excellent banana bread loaf, which is a great dessert with or
without ice cream. All the dirty dishes can be left in the kitchen overnight and when she arrives, both she and Paulea will clean up.
There is an additional charge if any of our staff stay beyond 3pm to cook and serve. There is an additional charge for bar tending
services. Our manager, Brian Moss, wil give you an invoice for food and beverage you’ve requested during your stay. We prefer
payment in cash (US, UK or EC dollars) or a credit card payment after invoice is submitted. Our staff would appreciate a gratuity
at the end of your stay if you are happy with their services. We suggest $100 USD for each of the key staff people and $50 USD
for others. At your discretion, it can be more.

$20 USD roundtrip to Hummingbird Restaurant (located at the
beginning of the Anse Chastanet mountain road). When calling folks locally in St. Lucia, you don’t need the
prefix (758), just the number. For James, the phone number is
$60 USD round trip to Botanical Gardens and Volcano. 584-7539.

$50 USD roundtrip to Ladera Restaurant. If you decide to rent a four-wheel jeep, police require a driving
permit. Some of the local agencies will deliver the car directly
$100 USD round trip to Marigot Seaport … Marigot is the to our villa and pick it up when you leave. The license is
seaport where “Dr. Doolittle” was filmed years ago. There are approximately $24 USD. If you want to rent a car, it’s best to
large, impressive yachts in the harbor and a few restaurants let us know as soon as possible so we can make sure there’s
and hotels where lunch is available. There’s also a small a jeep available for you. Rates range from $75-$100 USD/day.
bakery and food shop with very good, but pricy, items for the
yacht crowd. It’s a 50-minute drive from our villa. We do not
recommend the 1-1 ½ hour ride to the other side of the
   island, to Rodney Bay.
We have a massage table located in the villa. Arrangements can also be made for a masseuse to come to Caille Blanc Residence.

The Serendipity, a 42 foot Catamaran, sails two to twenty people for a half day or a full day. For reservations, call: (758) 459 7783.
The Serendipity will pick your party up on the Anse Chastanet Beach at 9:00AM, sail to Pitons and bring you for snorkeling in Au
Cochons Bay (they have the gear on board). Rum punch, beverages and snack chips are on board and you will enjoy a lunch at
Marigot Bay and sail back to Anse Chastanet Beach, around 3:30 PM. For more information, visit: www.mysticmantours.com

James taxi/van (758) 584 7359 can take you to beach and back from our villa residence.
Best Scuba Diving and Snorkling
We have a fabulous underwater reef just 35 feet from the Anse Chastanet beach that is excellent for snorkeling. Scuba Diving
with instructor or underwater guide can be arranged at the Anse Chastanet Hotel. They have their own Scuba Boat to take you
near the Pitons for a 90 ft dive or a great introductory dive and lesson starting from the beach.

Mountain Biking
Call the Anse Chastanet hotel for information at: 459 7000.
Going to the Beach
Previously mentioned, it’s a four minute drive from our villa or a 15 minute walk on soft clay roads (wear sneakers or you may be
sliding on the roads). We have beach towels that you can take and bring back. Here’s the approach to the beach: When you’ve
gone as far as you can, there will be a gate with a guard. Tell them you’re staying at the Coleman Residence and are going to the
beach for lunch or scuba diving (even if you’re not). If you arrive there for dinner, you can park your car in the visitors lot or have
James come back to pick you up when you call him (One of the waiters can call him for you). During the day, it’s a few minutes
walk past the guard until you’re on the beach. There are sheltered areas in the open restaurant area where you can sit and relax
and have coffee or cocktails (or just relax), if you want to get out of the sun. Lunch starts at the beach restaurant around 12 noon
and we usually order the buffet since it’s decent and considerably faster than ordering from the menu. At your discretion, the
Anse Chastanet Hotel has set up a membership program for outside visitors at approximately $110/person for the week, which
entitles you to the hotel’s towels and lounges on the beach. Unless you love the beach scene, and plan on being there every day,
we suggest you carry a beach towel from our villa for your swim there.
Volcano and Diamond Botanical Garden
Close to the Pitons is an active smoking volcano. It’s a 20-minute drive from our villa and if you wanted to combine it with a visit
to the Botanical Gardens, then we suggest you see the Volcano area first. Arrive there around 1:30PM for a 45-minute tour
followed by a 10-minute ride to the Botanical Gardens (arrive there about 3PM … the Botanical Gardens closes at 5PM). We
prefer the late afternoon since there are fewer tourists visiting. When you arrive at the Botanical Gardens, you pay a small fee and
ask for a view of the waterfall. You pay an additional small fee if you want to soak in the outdoor wading pool. We always take a
soak for ½ hr to 1 hr in the outdoor wading pool with warm purified waters from the volcano. (Therefore, you’ll need to bring a
bathing suit, a towel and a possible change of clothes. There are stalls you can change in near the wading pool.) They have some
guides available in the Botanical Garden if you so desire. Generally, we just take the walk straight away to the pools and the
   waterfall (Guide not required.)
St. Lucia has a great rain forest and Manager Brian, James (our driver), or Albert (our security guard) can advise on a guide
for the rainforest. The Rain Forest can be an arduous, slippery trek unless you’re in good physical shape. Charge is
approximately $25 USD. There is another location in the Rain Forest with a Zipline feature located about an hour away that
James taxi van can take you to.

An arduous 4 hour climb – check with the tourist office at 459 5363.
Our English manager, has fortunately for me been our contractor on this amazing buildout; but he also takes care of guests’
requirements. Generally, if you give him a list of foods, he will drive to either end of St. Lucia to make the purchase. His cell phone
is: 758 284 5178. Any concerns, reach out to Brian.

Marilyn, Paulea & Josephine
Marilyn is our housekeeper/cook and she has looked after us for 21 years. Paulea joined us last year and helps with the
general cleaning and assisting Marilyn with cooking, as necessary. Josephine assists her co-workers, but also has a special
talent, as a trained bartender. If you order the appropriate cocktail mixers, Josephine can prepare special island drinks for your
pleasure, such as Pina Colada, Banana Daquiri, rum-based juice drinks, and more. Our staff works from 9AM-3PM and will
cook and prepare your meals. If you want some of these women to stay past 3PM, they will make themselves available for an
additional fee plus cab fare home.

Dr. Alexis in Soufriere can be reached at 459 7281 or 459 7257. He knows our Residence and will pay you a visit at the villa.
Since his family owns the local pharmacy, he carries plenty of drugs to dispense, if necessary.
Arrives at 6 PM and leaves at 6 AM – Albert will open the entertainment cabinet with large screen DVD player every evening and light
   the candles for dining.

Our gardener & pool man, arrive every morning at 8AM and will be sweeping the patios, watering the flowers, looking after our
pool and feeding the koi in our little pond. Sonny Boy has the biggest smile in St. Lucia and will be happy to help you in any way.

Recommended Restaurants for Reservations
Ladera/Dasheene Restaurant - 459 7323. A small hotel resort located off the main highway (30 minutes drive from our
Residence). It’s situated between the Pitons at a high level with incredibly spiritual sunset views which we rate very highly for St.
Lucia guests. You should get there for drinks on the deck (under a thatched roof) by 5:30PM. The sun generally sets around
6:15PM. Jennifer is a waitress who knows the Colemans and you can ask her for the front of the deck. (Do so also when you
make your reservation). They have good Caribbean cocktails like daquiris, pina coladas, and a mean martini. Dinner is served
starting at 6:30PM. Pricing in the medium to upper range and mixed reviews on the food, so we suggest you have any sauces
   put on the side.

Hummingbird Restaurant – 459 7232/7492 … a five minute drive from the house, down at the bottom of the hill. Joyce owns
and manages the restaurant and knows us well. It’s a very casual atmosphere where you can wear shorts and a t-shirt. People
dock their sailboats and spend the night at the room she rents. The food has improved but the service is Caribbean slow.
It’s best to make a reservation.

Anse Chastanet Hotel Original Treetop Restaurant - 459 7000 (specify the “original” Treetop, not the new Treetop – they
have two). Indian food dinner is decent at the beach restaurant, generally on Friday night. As we’ve already mentioned, the buffet
at lunch works best (though, the exception is that they make a good West Indian chicken roti for lunch from the menu).
Recommended Restaurants for Reservations
Jade Mountain Restaurant - 459 7000. Peter Pietruska is the general manager of the Anse Chastanet Hotel & Jade Mountain
Hotel and knows the Colemans well. If you call him and give him a little notice and tell him you’re our friends staying at the
Residence, he can arrange for you to have lunch at Jade Mountain Restaurant. And, more importantly, he can make sure you see
one of the individual room suites, each of which has its own swimming pool (make sure you arrange in advance for a time so that
you can see a room, since they’re fully booked 98% of the time, you can probably see one of the rooms between check-ins at
2-3PM … so your lunch should start around 12:30PM.) When James drops you off at the entrance to the beach area, tell the
guard that you’re going for lunch at Jade Mountain. They will send a hotel van to come down and bring you up the mountain for
lunch (and bring you back afterwards). (Lunch and/or dinner at Jade Mountain tends to be on the expensive side. Credit cards
   are accepted.)

The Fondeux Plantation Cocoa Estate Restaurant – Available for a buffet and lunch tour of the cocoa production process
and also available for dinner (moderately priced). James can take you roundtrip for $60 USD. Sometimes we just have a sunset
cocktail at Ladera and dinner at Fondeux which is moderately priced and good.
