What’s happening?
Katikati Festival of Cultures
With the success of the Katikati Festival of Cultures 2019, now more than ever we want to
promote a feeling of community and inclusion within our wonderful town, and celebrate all
the unique cultures within it. We will once again celebrate through a street parade through
town, vibrant cultural performances, food and craft stalls and some new surprises in store!
Please join us on Saturday 6th March at Haiku Park.

Children’s Day celebration – Harakeke with Aroha
Aroha will be sharing a harakeke weaving activity for children five years and older. All

Ōtūmoetai College International Food Festival
Students at Ōtūmoetai College (OTC) invite you to come and purchase some yummy food
on campus. Gold coin entry and you will have to go and swap your money for OTC money
in order to buy at the food stalls. Come ready and hungry!

Tauranga Multicultural Festival
Come along to this celebration of the diverse cultures who live in Tauranga and call this
city home. Experience the colourful and vibrant display of dance, food, music and culture.
Discovery tents will provide an opportunity for visitors to experience different cultures
through interactive activities alongside free children’s activities. Park and Ride available.
Check out the website for details. The annual ‘Parade of Nations’ will begin at noon –
everyone is welcome to participate.

Cultural Conversations
Join us at Tauranga City Library to hear of the challenges, learnings and celebrations of
two women’s immigrant stories. In celebration of Cultural Diversity Awareness Month,
Saima Hussain Anis and Song Lam will be talking about their personal experiences and
sharing a unique perspective on embracing their own voice and diversity living in New
Zealand. There will be Q&A time with the speakers and refreshment afterwards.

Religious Diversity and Anti-Discrimination workshops
Brought to you by the Religious Diversity Centre, Tauranga Moana Interfaith Council,
University of Waikato and Welcoming Communities. Join internationally accredited trainers
for these unique workshops to building cohesion in a diverse society. Topics covered are
identity, cultural awareness, examining and confronting issues, responding and social action.
