Eastern Ski Trips Some sad news Marshall (Marsh to his friends) Golding, long time member of SCWDC passed away on December 3, 2020. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and his coworkers at the Department of Justice. If you would like to read a little about his life, please go to Marshall Golding Obituary - Falls Church, VA dignitymemorial.com. Because of Covid restrictions on gatherings and travel, there will be no public service at this time. However a Celebration of Life is planned tentatively for June 24, 2021 which would have been his 96th
Birthday.

Hi Everyone!
Members and Interested Friends of SCWDC: In the last several
weeks, phishing and scam emails have been sent to a variety of
SCWDC officers and members. To conduct SCWDC business,
officers send many messages to each other and individual
members. Most of these messages show email addresses in the
"clear", plainly stated in the message. The downside to this procedure is that a
copy of the email sometimes falls into the hands of a web site
"Pirate." Another risk is that the SCWDC website has for many years, posted
the email addresses of key officers. The downside to this procedure is that a
website pirate can copy the email addresses and use in a scam. After
repeated scam emails being sent to officers in the last few weeks, nearly all
officer and leader email addresses have been removed. The SCWDC officers
and leaders want to be able to receive emails from members, but in the future,
please write to the SCWDC Office to reach a particular officer. And as a
reminder, one SCWDC member can write an email to another SCWDC
member after logging into the SCWDC web site.
US security experts warn, "Don't routinely open emails from unknown email
addresses." But recent scam messages sent to SCWDC officers purported to
be from another SCWDC officer, so this is an additional risk. Example: a
frequent scam is asking the recipient to buy gift cards because the alleged
SCWDC officer is out of town and claims his/her credit card is not
working. Please be aware of these risks. To be helpful, some examples are
now posted at Missy_Merlot_Messages and Advice. The SCWDC is not
equipped to give professional advice about PC security matters or what anti-
virus software to buy. It's just a shame that there are evil persons interfering
