ABOUT AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA GROUP

In 2017, APMG launched the APM Research Lab, which informs journalists,
civic and business leaders, and the public across the U.S. with both original
and curated research and analysis. In the past year, this has enabled deep
analysis on topics such as the national election, economic and racial disparities
in COVID-19 deaths, and racial justice and the killing of George Floyd. APMG’s
work has been further enhanced by the 2018 launch of the Glen Nelson Center,
which identifies and invests in emerging media and journalism ventures led by
diverse and visionary founders. The Center imagines a global ecosystem of public
interest media ventures focused on society’s most significant challenges and
opportunities.

APMG’s vision and values express its unrelenting commitment to serving its
audiences today and for generations to come.

ABOUT MINNEAPOLIS AND ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA

A unique Midwestern state, Minnesota’s core urban hub contains Minneapolis and St. Paul, nicknamed the Twin
Cities and built around the Mississippi River.
The Twin Cities region is home to 3.3 million people and includes everything from vibrant suburbs and bustling urban
neighborhoods to small towns and family farms. The area is well known for world-class cultural offerings, including
outstanding and award-winning art, theater and restaurants, as well as the best airport, medical resources, parks and
natural beauty around. In addition, Minneapolis has five major professional sports franchises and multiple college and
university campuses. Minneapolis has 11 city sectors making up 84 neighborhoods and Saint Paul is comprised of 18 distinct
neighborhood communities—each part of town with its own style.

The business community in the Minneapolis St. Paul region is home to 12 fortune 500 corporations and a dedicated civic,
business and creative community, flowing deep with tradition, wide with talent and diversity and strong with economic and
cultural vitality. The region has a unique culture, teeming with leaders with a combination of humility, substance and self-
awareness.

Minnesota’s standard of living index is among the highest in the United States, and the state is among the best-educated
in the nation. In recent decades its economy has diversified, shifting from traditional industries such as agriculture and
resource extraction to services and finance. Specifically, the resilient and diverse economy includes agriculture, food
processing, computing, printing and publishing, large- and small-scale manufacturing, healthcare, arts and entertainment as
well as medical instruments, education and finance.

According to Greater MSP, Minneapolis Saint Paul Regional Economic Development Partnership, the region is ranked #1 in its
peer set for overall workforce participation and an unemployment rate among the lowest in the nation. In 2019, Minnesota
was also deemed the most charitable state in the U.S.

Following last summer’s civil unrest and protests, community leaders are working with urgency to address inequities and
strengthen the overall community. The Greater Minneapolis-Saint Paul region is home to talented and courageous people of
all backgrounds and identities – people who are passionate and driven to make the region a more equitable place for all.
