In Snapology’s Science of Superpowers mini-camp program,
children will learn about the science behind their favorite
heroes’ powers. Campers will explore gravity, aerodynamics,
forces, motion, and much more as we build superhero scenes
and vehicles with LEGO® bricks.

                              Solon Recreation Summer Swim Team
                               Registration begins on-line or at the
                           SCC customer service area May 6 at 9:00am
           Swim team is offered to Solon and Glenwillow Residents only. Participants
              must be at least 6 years of age and be able to swim one or more of the
            competitive strokes non-stop. The participants will be swimming multiple
           lengths of 25 yards in a practice. Swim Team participants will be swimming
            independently in the water. This is not a learn to swim class. Swim Meets
           will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. A complete description of
            the program will be posted on the city website www.solonohio.org in the
                         Parks and Recreation Aquatics section by May 1.

                                Water Exercise Summer Classes
                 Solon Community Center Members including Silver Sneakers,
              Renew Activ, Silver and Fit are eligible to take part in any of the Solon
           Recreation Water Exercise Program classes at no additional cost. The classes
            are 45 minutes and are held at one of the three Solon Recreation Pools. A
                   complete listing of classes will be posted on the city website
            www.solonohio.org in the Parks and Recreation Aquatics section by May 1.

S               AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
After School Programs are offered through Solon Center for the Arts & Solon Parks & Recreation. Children are bused from Lewis,
Parkside and Roxbury Elementary Schools directly to our facilities on Solon School Buses. PLEASE BE ADVISED of the rules put
forth by the Solon Schools for the 2023-2024 school year … Each child is permitted 2 drop off locations, including (1) home & (2)
choice of ONE day care. According to these rules, children will need to pick either SCA or REC as they will NOT be able to bounce
back and forth. Please remember to fill out the OPT-IN BUS FORM the schools require by their designated deadline. AFTER YOU
COMPLETE OUR REGISTRATION ON APRIL 29, you must then complete the DAY CARE FORM to indicate which after school
program you will be attending. Registering for After School Programs with the City of Solon does not guarantee you space on a
Solon School Bus … Parents MUST complete all necessary forms from the schools. Limited space available, register early!

Children will receive a small snack upon arrival to After School, however, parents can pack an additional snack in their book bags if
your child tends to need more in the afternoons. Please send your child with a refillable water bottle.

REGISTRATION | Saturday, April 29 at 9 AM
Registration will be available online for all after school programs. You will be able to select which days you would like to attend,
however, you will be registering for the entire school year. A NON REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE deposit of $25/day
will be due at the time of registration and payment schedules will be set up for the remaining balances.(Due to bussing restrictions,
adding and/or changing days during the school year may not be permitted).

Prior to registration, it is encouraged to make sure your CivicRec account is up to date. Please verify that the grade listed in your
account reflects the grade they are currently in. Children entering Kindergarten MUST have PK marked as their grade to qualify
them for Kindergarten Club. Also, a completed Information Form must be on file in order to register on April 29. This Information
Form is our way of collecting your child’s pertinent information and is also free.

 SCA’s Arts4Kids program provides an artistic and creative extended classroom experience for children in grades 1 - 4. This
 exciting program is comprised of four disciplines, including Art, Movement, Music and Theater. In order to have exposure to
 the most disciplines, its encouraged to sign up for multiple days. Arts4Kids ends promptly at 5 PM and late fees will be charged
 for those participants picked up after 5 PM. Looking for a pick-up later than 5 PM? Additional art and theater programs will be
 available starting at 5 PM. Registration for these classes will start on July 17 at 12PM

 When registering for Arts4Kids, you will see a variety of options to pick..
 Arts4Kids | Students will rotate through disciplines throughout the four sessions. Available Monday – Friday. Limit of 40 students
 per day.

 Group Guitar | Students will participate in group guitar lessons every week. This class is geared towards beginner-intermediate
 students. Participants will need to provide their own guitars each week for class. Guitars are NOT permitted to be taken on
 the bus, therefore, parents will need to drop them off at SCA prior to 2:30 PM. Available Mondays Only. Limit of 8 students.

 Group Violin | Students will participate in group violin lessons every week. This class is geared towards beginner-intermediate
 students. Participants will need to provide their own violins each week for class and can be brought along with them on the bus
 from school. Available Tuesdays Only. Limit of 6 students.

 “ABC” Arts4Kids Book Club | Do you love books? This A4K club will explore the arts through literature. Guided activities will
 assist students in their own process of reading books, poems, artworks, music, and even writing their own book! Don’t miss this
 engaging club. It’s sure to be a page-turner! Available Wednesdays Only. Limit of 6 students.

 All About the Arts Club | Back this year this club will educate students for the appreciation for the arts including art, dance,
 music and theater. Students will be able to explore each discipline by learning about the history, influential artists, participate in
 hands on activities, experience performances and more! Virtual activities will also enhance this exciting classroom experience.
 Available Thursdays Only. Limit of 6 students.

 Solon Parks & Recreation will be offering its very popular After-School Program. After snack, participants are given an option to
 complete their homework and/or independent reading as decided upon by the parents. (watch for the permission slip!) A variety
 of activities are offered the rest of the afternoon, such as homework time, reading time, crafts, board games, coloring, open gym,
 outside play, gaga, playground at the park, etc. After-School is a fun, energetic program that allows the students to run, get fresh
 air and PLAY! After-School ends promptly at 6 PM and late fees will be charged for those participants picked up after 6 PM.

SCA SUMMER ARTS CAMPS
                                                MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP
                                                          GOING INTO GRADES 3 - 9
               This popular five-week camp will introduce the basic principles of acting, singing and movement as students will work
               towards producing an hour long production. Students will have fun learning theater games and techniques from SCA
               Staff including a director, music director and choreographer. The workshop will conclude with a performance in July. This

                                           Dance Class Descriptions

                       SCA dance classes encourage creativity while emphasizing proper technique and
                     terminology so that students become strong, knowledgeable, and passionate dancers.
                     Each student will learn steps in a progressive manner that will allow them to focus on
                    body placement, timing, fluidity, musicality, and expression. SCA dance instructors teach
                        with a nurturing and supportive attitude so that students are able to learn in an
                                      environment conducive to growth and development.

                                                                       while developing rhythm through short dances and purposeful
                                                                        games. They will also increase their coordination and body
                                                                       awareness during the classes tumbling time.

                                                                       Adult Ballet, Adult Jazz, Adult Tap (Ages 18+) Stay in shape
                                                                       and have fun doing it! Students will gain flexibility, increase
                                                                       stamina and strengthen their bodies and minds. Classes are
                                                                       suitable for new and previously trained dancers

PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTION
Private lessons offer students one-on-one time to explore an
instrument with a professional instructor. SCA
instructors are skilled at understanding a student’s
individual needs and aspirations. The instructor and student
work for a common goal, to play the solo, get the part, or be
better prepared to play in the band, orchestra, or sing in the
choir.

Lessons are available for piano, woodwinds, guitar, and string
instruments. All of SCA’s instructors hold degree-level certifi-
cation on their instruments and are accomplished performers.
Instruction is offered in 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons. SCA offers
high quality music education. To help keep tuition affordable for
your family, payment plans are available upon request. For more

                                   15TH ANNUAL SCA ONE-ACT FESTIVAL GRADES 2 - 8
                  The SCA One-Act Festival will be the result of The 15th Annual SCA Playwriting Competition. This
                            production will feature original One-Act plays written by young playwrights from
                                   North East Ohio and performed by SCA’s Youth Theater students.
                Sign Ups and Materials: All students who register will receive a role. Roles will be assigned after the
               first rehearsal/group auditions. Please sign your child up before the first rehearsal. Limit 25 - 30 students
                           depending on winning shows. Students will be broken down into smaller cast sizes.
                                          Enrollment Opens: Monday, March 6 @ 12:00 PM
                               First Rehearsal/Group Auditions: Monday, April 3 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM
                       Rehearsals: Rehearsal days/times will be announced later but will be held April 5 - May 26
