                                   Hello Mequon-Thiensville
                                   Community Members:

Thank you for taking time to read this message and for looking through this amazing selection of
Fall opportunities. We have a vast selection of offerings this Fall for all ages, I hope you can find
something to your liking. Some of our new exciting programs include a Downsizing and Getting Your
Home Ready to Sell offered by First Weber, an Eddie Eagle Gunsafe program offered by Bear Arms
LLC, a Preschool soccer program midafternoon during the week offered by Solar Recreation, an
Urban Gardening Series offered by Brown Deer Park and Rec, and an Evening Flow Yoga class on
Thurs nights offered by Erica Boos.

Our second school year of the Kids’ Campus program has finished up and we had an amazing
year considering it was cut short. We saw 318 total kids in our program with 20,065 registrations.
Certainly would have seen more but we missed the whole months of April and May. Plans for next
year are underway and looking to see how we can better the program. REGISTER NOW for ‘20-
’21 school year!! If any questions or comments on the program, please contact Emily Kuspa, Kids’
Campus coordinator at 262-238-7548 or ekuspa@mtsd.k12.wi.us

and could possibly cause some of our Fall offerings to cancel. If that happens, please know
that you will get notified by our office and a full refund will occur by the method of payment.
We thank you for being patient and understanding with us during these times and we are
doing everything we can to provide our community some fun and beneficial offerings.

                        Tai Chi Advanced
Tai Chi Chuan and Ch’l Kung are ancient Chinese mind-body practices. What is Ch’i? The Chinese word Ch’l means
air, energy or life. Everyone possess Ch’l and we can develop it within our bodies through learning and practicing
Tai Chi movements. In class, students learn a comprehensive system that opens and strengthens the whole body
in a gentle manner. Ultimately, the practice integrates body, mind, and spirit causing a “ripple: effect that not only
helps the overall health of the individual, but spreads out into the well-being of the family and the greater community.
Continuing students must have already completed one session or be an experienced practitioner of the art.

                                            Pickleball
Yes, PICKLEBALL – the fun game with the funny name, is one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation! Created
in the backyard of Washington Congressman Joel Pritchard in 1965, it is a combination of badminton, tennis and
table tennis, and is enjoyed by all age groups. Using a badminton-sized court, tennis-height net, table tennis-
type paddle, and a baseball-sized whiffle ball, usually played by doubles, this game has few rules and is far less
strenuous than tennis. It is easy to learn and provides plenty of exercise and eye-hand coordination; a game of
strategy for both men and women, you don’t have to be tall and powerful. Want to watch a video? Go to www.
USAPA.org, click on link “What is Pickleball?” under Training and Court Info link or sit in on any Tuesday, Thursday,
or Saturday open court session to see if you’d like it.

                                   Calligraphy
Sue McConnell has been teaching and studying calligraphy in Wisconsin for 35 years and is excited
about offering this series of classes which will be focusing on the pointed pen script called Copperplate
or Roundhead Calligraphy. It is written with ink and a pointed metal nib, set into an oblique holder which
gives the writing a beautiful slant. The letters are created with thin and black lines to produce this elegant
script. The class will include the understanding of the tools, paper, ink, and history of calligraphy.

All supplies are provided except for a $15.00 fee paid at the first class to cover the cost of the
penholder, 2 pen nibs, ink, paper and handouts for the sessions. Learn something beautiful and
enjoy the many ways you can share this art with others. All levels of ability are welcome.

                           Club Series
For Beginners and Players who want to learn more!
The Club Series is the first in the American Contract Bridge League sponsored lesson program for
learning and improving bridge skills. The program in total covers the major aspects required for proficiency
in the game including bidding, declarer play, defense and basic conventions. The Club Series focuses
on the fundamentals of bidding, which is the starting point for learning the game. The series requires no
previous knowledge of the game, and enables the beginner to learn how to set goals and how to achieve
them. While the focus is on the most fundamental aspects of the game, there are many concepts which an
intermediate player will find useful as well. Other aspects of the game such as play and defense are also
briefly discussed so as to equip the new player to begin playing by the conclusion of the series. A textbook
is available from the instructor for $12. The book consists of nine chapters and an appendix which covers
some additional topics. The class consists of ten 2-hour lessons.

Ozaukee County 2020 Power of Attorney Event
Despite the challenges of 2020, the Ozaukee County Elder/Adults at Risk Interdisciplinary Team hope to go forward
with our Annual Power of Attorney Event, though with a new approach. We expect to offer residents a virtual
opportunity to learn about the Power of Attorney Health Care Document and the steps to complete this. Completing
a Power of Attorney allows a person to choose the individual he/she would want to make medical decisions in
the event that the person is unable to make them for him/herself. In Wisconsin, spouses and children do not
automatically have this authority. Completed Power of Attorney documents can help families avoid costly and time-
consuming court proceedings. If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact Ozaukee
County Human Services at 262-284-8200 to provide your name and email address or phone number. This
event is hosted by the Ozaukee Elder/Adults at Risk Interdisciplinary Team, with support from members of the
Ozaukee Bar Association.
