Orthodontic staff LAB TECHNICIANSDearest Colleagues and Dear Members,
Welcome in Rome!
On Thursday 10 October, for the entire pre-congress day, we have
scheduled “The Orthodontic Circle Day”; six leading speakers from
the international orthodontic scene will discuss specific topics with
a purely clinical approach, in line with the scientific topics and the
key words chosen for this Congress.
Different courses have been organized on Thursday: a hands-on
course on wire bending technique in collaboration with S.I.Te.B.I.
(Italian Society of Bidimensional Technique), a hands-on course on
digital issues [Dolphin], a SIBOS (Italian Society of Biomechanics and
Segmented Orthodontics)interdisciplinary meeting on orthodontic-
periodontal issues and finally two courses sponsored by Biolux and Lancer.
This year the sessions are organized in six parallel scientific paths: Aesthetic, Digital, Multidisciplinary,
Hygienist, Orthodontic Staff and Lab Technicians Path.
On Friday, during the Sessions on Aesthetics several specific aspects of macro and micro-aesthetics will
be examined with a multidisciplinary approach. The session on Saturday will be devoted to vertical excess
dysmorphism.
On Friday, the sessions on Digital Issues will focus on updates concerning diagnosis and treatment planning
as well as therapeutic approaches and appliance preparation. Aligners will be one of the main topics, as
they are increasingly used in orthodontic clinical practice but still need scientific validation. To this end,
two different initiatives have been organised: a consensus conference and an exchange of expert opinions
by internationally acclaimed speakers. The results will be presented on Saturday morning during a round
table.
The Multidisciplinary Path will comprise four different thematic sessions: Orthodontics and TMDs, OSAS
(with SIOCMF - Italian Society of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery), Orthodontics and Periodontics (with
SIdP – Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology) and a seminar organised with SIOH (Italian
Society for Oral Health and Disability).
This year there will be also plenty of initiatives for other professionals who play a crucial role in the
orthodontic practice, namely Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants and Lab Technicians.
The Hygienist Path will comprise a one-day course on Thursday and a scientific session on Friday in
collaboration with AIDI, ATASIO and UNID. On Saturday there will be a joint SIDO-SIdP session.
3On Friday and Saturday there will be a tailor-made path for Dental Assistants, Orthodontic Staff, in
collaboration with IDEA and AIASO aimed at informing and training participants also in light of the recent
introduction of legislation having a direct impact on professional standards.
Last but not least, there will be a scientific programme for Lab Technicians organised with ORTEC.
The Poster Session will focus on the same topics that will be covered during the Congress, going back to a
traditional presentation format which can enhance the value of contributions and offer an opportunity to
give feedback and exchange opinions with the presenters.
The Congress is also an opportunity to have fun together.
There will be social events every evening, from the first to the last day, which will make 2019 SIDO Congress
a unique experience in the beautiful city of Rome!
On Thursday, October 10, after the Opening Ceremony with a special guest, there will be the usual
Get Together, where all congress participants are invited to an aperitif.
The President’s Reception will take place on Friday, October 11, at Salone delle Fontane where participants
will enjoy a … SIDO NIGHT.
And finally… we could not fail to organise our sport event: the 2nd SIDO FUN RUN on Saturday morning!
Enjoy the Congress!
