EVENT FEEDBACK
A tribute to Nana Mouskouri by Helene Bester
                        Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/Featherbrookeza/

A top-notch performance by Helene Bester as she sang tribute to Nana Mouskouri with mesmerising
guitar accompaniment. A gloriously relaxed evening was had by all and we completely exhausted the
encore opportunity.

Chairman’s farewell to

Featherbrooke Estate Manager
Peet Coertzen
By Johan Britz

It was Winnie the Pooh who famously said, “how lucky I am to have something
that makes saying goodbye so hard”. And so is the case with retiring Estate
Manager, Peet Coertzen.
Most reading this, will agree that Peet served this Estate with pride and integrity, perhaps as he Peet’s range of projects, or labours of love (including the new multidiscipline arena) are all Peet leadership, with Peet retiring. Grande Opening
A super social family time on the banks of the sports field with players who didn’t want to leave the crisp, new arena.

Much fun had in every single one of our friendly team games of hockey, netball and soccer. Hysterical
sportsmanship as we pulled some teen boys in to play in a girls netball team, and then our young girls
showed the boys exactly how to play soccer.
Possibly the biggest challenge was keeping the mom’s and dad’s from hogging the field - I can’t quite
decide who had the most fun. Thank you Featherbrooke, that was brilliant!
A very special word of thanks to Gina Gerber who kindly co-ordinated all the teams for the day. That task
was certainly no small feat. Deep appreciation for your time and involvement, Gina!

hands.
A new couple needs to get to know each other, and this
is achieved in two ways. Sitting on a perch watching the
world go by or flying the thermals for hours on end.
The latter seems to be more enjoyable, and reports from
our monitors indicate that they would see them take off
at the beginning of a monitor session, never to be seen
again during their four-hour stint. This is very frustrating
for visitors wanting to see the eagles, but we always
have interesting facts and titbits to keep the interest
going.
On other occasions, the eagles give visitors some
spectacular sightings. You lose on the swings but win
on the roundabout. It is very important to know that we
are dealing with wild creatures and have no control over
their behaviour, and we make this fact known to all the
visitors that visit our station.
At this stage we grant the new couple all the rest they
can get, forming a firm bond, and preparing for a new
breeding season.
