Considered Comfort
       Systems for living

Considered Comfort explores how interiors will respond
to our changing relationship with the home, as it
becomes a multifunctional system for living.

Already, fluid working patterns are changing how we use
our homes, and tech is enabling us to bring out-of-home
activities inside. Hi-tech exercise systems, for example,
connect to virtual trainers to simulate the experience of a
fitness class in the living room, and even when we are
not home, we can control it remotely through devices
and appliances synced to our phones.

For kids' rooms, this will alter what families want and
expect from their products and spaces. We will see a
push towards soft, natural and tactile materials, and
items that move seamlessly between lounging and living,
supporting work, rest and play. In 2021, our homes will
be multi-tasking, and our products will be following suit.

Action Points
Considered Comfort focuses on wellness and embraces the
home as a calming space, using simple yet flexible designs
       with warm soothing hues.

       1. Focus on comfort: use fabrics, forms and colours to
create cosy and soothing environments to put comfort at
the heart of designs for babies, kids and teens.

       2. Take inspiration from Japanese design: embrace the
       craftsmanship, simplicity, functionality, and natural
       materials that characterise Japanese design.

       3. Reference nature in contemporary ways: move away
from traditional chintz and bold tropical foliage, focusing
on deconstructed florals for a fresh look. Colour, stylised
designs and tactile details will be key.

       4. Focus on functionality: as spaces get smaller, explore
how cleverly designed and multipurpose products can make
       family life easier.
