Cricket Tasmania General Notices
WBBL in Burnie
The cricket community across the North West Coast were provided a great insight over the weekend to high
performance female cricket. Around 2000 people witnessed the Hobart Hurricanes play the Melbourne stars over the
two games. It’s great to see high performance cricket content back on the coast to inspire the next generation of
players.

Administration/Competition Notices
CNW Men’s Division 3
This summer our clubs will have the opportunity to recruit new or lapsed players to their clubs in a shorter 3 match T20
format. The CNW Men’s Division 3 concept will play on Saturday evenings following senior matches. The fixture will be
confirmed once teams have nominated their interest, however it will be aimed to include two pools with the winners
meeting in a final. The dates identified for the pool matches are Sat Jan 12, Sat Jan 19 and Sat Feb 2 with the grand
final on Sat Feb 9.

CNW Women’s Division 2
After great success last season, the CNW Women’s Division 2 concept will return this season. Aimed at introducing new
players to the game, the matches will be modified format aimed at encouraging participation and aiding skill
development. Dates identified for these matches will include 1 local evening game on Monday 11th February followed
by a gala day on February 17th. Players currently participating in the CNW senior Women’s competition may be eligible
to play subject to approval by CNW. This will be aimed at inexperienced players who have played less than around 10
matches. All under 17 female players will be eligible.

Female Rep Game Wrap Up.
The Cricket North West Female Representative team defeated the Cricket North in Sundays match played in great
conditions at the West Park Oval following Sundays WBBL match. The 35 over game provided an extended time for
representative players to showcase their skills against the best competition in the North. Ulverstone’s Sam Cotton (94)
was the standout batter sharing a 188 third wicket partnerships with Devonport’s Martina Steven (38*). This win gives
momentum heading in to game 2 against the North on Sunday January 27th. Credit to the Burnie City Council, Hobart
Hurricanes and Cricket Australia to allow a match to directly follow a WBBL fixture in what we believe is a first in the
country. Full Scorecard can be found on MyCricket.

   Replacement Players – 1st & 2nd Grade
With 1st Grade and 2nd Grade currently playing different formats, CNW understands there may be some confusion or
concern in relation to making changes to a 1st Grade One-Day team halfway through a 2nd Grade Two-Day match.
Clubs are asked to notify the opposition captain and umpires advisor by 5.00pm on Friday with details of player
replacements. This information will assist club’s administrator’s for MyCricket purposes. Contact details are provided
in the CNW Senior Rules Handbook.
Competition By-Laws have been updated to reflect the use of replacement players, including the specific
circumstances where they can be used. The new By-Law is available via the Replacement Players – Addendum to Rule
52 link. Captains and coaches should read and take note of this update.

Stay dry juniors, rain on it’s way!
With heavy wet weather forecast for the weekend, it’s time to get prepared. Please refer to Cricket North West wet
