Director Candidates
• Candidates currently in the CTE director training, or who have recently
completed the CTE director training program but have not applied for their
certificate, will need to apply for their certificate through the OSPI
Certification Office no later than June 30, 2021.
• Candidates that have not applied by June 30, 2021 will have to retake a
program to qualify.

data about the types of industry certifications students are earning as part of
their CTE experiences.
• This information is required for Perkins Program Quality Indicator for
“leads to IRC for Graduation Pathway”. OPSI needs to understand access
and attainment.
• To tie industry certifications earned by students to industry job
opportunities, OSPI will collect:

• House passed The Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency
Solutions (HEROES) Act which included provisions:
• Flexibility for funds retention, flexibility for local Perkins recipients to
pool funds to support secondary to postsecondary or employment
transitions for students whose academic year was impacted by COVID,
waives some PD
• Relaunching America’s Workforce Act (RAWA) does the above and includes
additional CTE specific funding
• Federal word: Senate plans action in a month
10/16/2020 332020-21 Perkins Application Update
• If Congress takes action: LEAs in Washington would have the automatic
right to carry over any unobligated funds from this year, and are permitted
to use PD funds for one-day/short-term needs.
• At this time, OSPI is waiting until Congress makes a decision before we can
make the 2020-21 Perkins Application available.
