for
Africa
The Univen library recently organised a
book exhibition to give academics an
opportunity to select the latest titles of
books for filling gaps in their subject areas.
Lecturers could interact with exhibitors
on their specific topics of interest. The
selected books will be purchased using the
R2,2 million allocated from the teaching
and research development grant of the
Department of Higher Education and
Training.
The library has also received a book
donation to the value of more than
R84 000 from Van Schaik Bookshop in
Polokwane. The donated books cover
subjects like chemistry, finance and law.

The team, led by Public Law lecturer, Mr Cornelius Hagenmeier, included
final year student Mr Peter Muthevhuli and third-year student Ms
Boitumelo Mohale.
Muthevhuli says the experience was fantastic. “We faced different
approaches from all corners of the continent. I have learned to always be
analytical and to handle legal matters with diligence and care.”
“Because we prepared ourselves thoroughly we managed to reach the
level of professionalism we were aiming for,” says Mohale.
“Most of all, we enjoyed meeting people from north, south, east and
west of Africa - and the food was a bonus!”
They were grateful for the support from the lecturer who they described
as their mentor who motivated and encouraged them.
“Although he was strict and critical on both our oral and written work,
it was all worth it and we were inspired by his attitude and care,” they
said.
The competition is held at different law faculties of an African university
every year. It empowers students from all parts of the continent to
