Born in 1955 in Roanne. In 1981, Gilles Favier met Christian Caujolle,
                           who had just set up the photo department at Libération. His
                           collaboration with the daily continues to this day.

                           Inspired by Diane Arbus, Favier has always tried to cast a humanistic
                           gaze at society’s outsiders. In 2002, he started a major documentary
                           project in the footsteps of ethnologist Pierre Verger. He left Paris and
                           now lives in the South of France. A member of the Vu agency from 1987

                              Carlos Fontes is the cofounder and current director of Encontros da
                              Imagem-International Photography and Visual Arts Festival in Braga,
                              Portugal. He studied economics at Porto University and graduated from
                              Minho University with a degree in history and social science.

                              Carlos has been head of Braga’s municipal cultural center and was co-
                              director of the Museum of the Image for several years. He has taught

The Annie Gabrielli Gallery, which opened in Montpellier in 2011,
