                                                                           Welcome to our 12th dingle international Film Festival.
main funDers                                                               We’ve had 11 brilliant years behind us, but we are
                                                                           always looking to the future, and we strive to make
                                                                           every year a different and worthwhile experience. 2018
                                                                           promises to be the biggest year ever, filled with
                                                                           exceptional screenings and talented guests.

                                                                          in honour of the late poet domhnall Mac síthigh (1951-
                                                                          2017), i am delighted to welcome dónal Ó céilleachair
                                                                          with our opening film The Camino Voyage/ Iomramh an
                                                                          Chamino - an epic 2,500km modern day celtic odyssey.
                                                 it features Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich, glen Hansard, liam Holden, Brendan-Pháid
                                                 Ó Muircheartaigh and domhnall Mac síthigh. this event holds great sentiment
                                                 this year and we proudly dedicate it to domhnall.

                                                 Our programme is packed this year, including new irish film supported by Bord
                                                 scannán na héireann/ the irish Film Board. the French embassy support top
sPonsors                                         French films with the assistance of the eU Parliament. We will present their lUX
                                                 Prize winning films with irish and english subtitles. there is something there for

VAST VALLEY                                      We are proud to welcome back our dingle Pow-Wow, which is bringing together
                                                 industry leaders from ireland and abroad to discuss their careers. i extend a
                                                 wholehearted welcome to the guests from home and abroad to be with us for this
                                                 incredible event.

                                                 this year, we introduce Vancouver international Mountain Film Festival as they
                                                 present their Best of the Fest tour: a special presentation of film, culture and the
Cultural Partners                                outdoors. another new addition to our programme this year is Wonda Vr,
                                                 supported by the French embassy, which promises to be a unique experience.

                                                 We are proud to support local filmmakers! this year is exceptional with our closing
                                                 film, the World Premiere of Keepers of the Flame, the directorial debut from nuala
                                                 O’connor. We will also have a showcase of the film work by local journalist seán
                                                 Mac an tsíthigh. introducing a special programme ‘Kingdom shorts’, which will
                                                 exhibit premiere screenings from local talent.

                                 a group of german workers set off to a construction site in the
                                 border region between Bulgaria and greece. the foreign land
                                 awakens the men’s sense of adventure, but they are also
                                 confronted with their own prejudice and mistrust due to the
                                 language barrier and cultural differences. men begin to
                                 compete for recognition and favour from the local villagers.

                                 In collaboration with the European Parliament, Dingle IFF present
                                 the LUX Prize winners. The LUX Prize was established by the EU
                                 Parliament to explore key issues and celebrate European values. EU
                                 Parliament reflects Europe’s multiplicity of cultures and languages.
                                 For the first time, these films will be subtitled in English and Irish.

                                 Sami Blood, LUX prize winner, will be screened on Sunday 25th at
                                 the Phoenix Cinema.

                                                 in 1979, Dylan declared to the world that he had become
                                                 a born-again Christian. his fans were baffled and not for
                                                 the first time. he toured relentlessly, performing only
                                                 songs that expressed his Christian message. one of the
                                                 gigs was filmed but never shown. forty years later, the
                                                 film was brought out of the vaults. there was a
                                                 suggestion that it might merit a documentary. Dylan
                                                 objected and recommended the commissioning of
                                                 sermons to be preached between the songs instead.
                                                 new york writer, luc sante was commissioned to
                                                 compose them; oscar nominated michael shannon was
                                                 cast as the preacher and Jennifer leBeau was invited to
                                                 direct. the result is a gospel service - Dylan style. once
                                                 again, he’s come up with something that isn’t like
                                                 anything else; but Dylan just isn’t like anyone else.
