“It is really important for us to have the finger on the
pulse of current affairs [here at AutoMobility LA] to
see how things are moving and what the trends are.
I think it's really great what they are trying here…to
create a platform for the exchange of ideas and not
just exhibit beautiful cars. I think this is the future
and Los Angeles is far ahead with this, too.”

DESIGN & DEVELOPER CHALLENGE
Earlier this year, AutoMobility LA invited professionals from automotive and beyond to look far into the future and imagine what life in
Los Angeles would be like if the city were to host a major global sporting event in the year 2060 in its annual Design & Developer
Challenge presented by Microsoft. Participants of this year’s challenge created conceptual plans on how 20 million citizens, athletes,
volunteers and visitors will get around using new and existing public, private and alternate modes of mobility. Five teams were selected
to present their concepts to industry and media professionals attending AutoMobility LA on Nov. 29, including a panel of judges. Once
the winner of the Judges’ Pick award was announced, industry and media professionals from around the world were able to review all
the entries and vote for their favorite concept on automobilityla.com. The winner of this year’s Industry Pick award was announced on
Dec. 11, along with the People’s Pick award that the public voted for on laautoshow.com.

“As the big car companies' race toward the
electric and self-driving future, there's growing
            competition for the personal transportation
world. Think everything from skateboard to

             personal conveyances…These new vehicles
currently appeal to the young, but they could
help provide mobility or ease transportation for
older and disabled people. The hope of many in
