Be part of the Discovery Center and support our community! Thank you for your interest in supporting the Discovery Center, a 501 (c)3 organization and a facility managed by Ocala Recreation and Parks, Cultural Arts and Sciences Division. We are proud to partner with local businesses who wish to help us further our mission to offer interactive science education to children and families. The average cost of a traveling museum exhibit is between $30,000 and $80,000, but the benefits to a community are far reaching. Interactive exhibits offer area teachers a way to bring subjects to life, give families quality time together and create opportunities for children to explore their world in new and exciting ways. In addition to our 5,000-square foot exhibit gallery, Discovery Center has StarLab planetarium shows, weekly enrichment classes, school programs, summer camp and an inhouse “Creature Collection” which requires daily care and feedings. It is our goal to offer the highest quality experience possible while still being affordable for families. This is where sponsors like you play a big role. Your donations help to keep our ticket prices affordable so we can continue to share these amazing programs with the community.
2020-2021 Exhibits & Events Astronaut Academy Oct. 3, 2020 – Jan. 2, 2021 Drive a Mars rover over rocky terrain, navigate through the international space station, travel through a wormhole and take part in hands-on challenges to see if you have what it takes to be the next generation of space explorers! STEAM Saturdays: October 10, November 7 and December 12 Under the Stars Date Night: Friday, October 23, 2020 I 6:30 – 9 p.m. Enjoy wine, appetizers, a StarLab show, a guided exhibition tour and a telescope viewing (weather permitting). Chain Reaction Charlie Jan. 16 – April 3, 2021 Charlie loves to invent new ways to do everyday tasks. Follow her into her backyard lab where you can invent, tinker and play. Come explore and build your own chain reactions and simple machines! STEAM Saturdays: January 16, February 13 and March 13 Discovery Date Night: Friday, January 19, 2021 I 6:30 – 9 p.m. Enjoy wine, appetizers, a StarLab show and a unique date experience in our exhibit hall.
Magnificent Magnets April 17 – July 3, 2021 Discover the awesome science of magnetism and how it is used for everyday life as well as cutting edge experimentation. STEAM Saturdays: April 17, May 8 and June 12 Discovery Date Night: Friday, May 21, 2021 I 6:30 – 9 p.m. Enjoy wine, appetizers, a StarLab show and a unique date experience in our exhibit hall. Ready, Set, Go! July 17 – Sept. 25, 2021 Explore how people and products move from one place to another in this hands-on exhibit about things that go. STEAM Saturdays: July 17, August 14, September 11 Discovery Date Night: Friday, August 27, 2021 I 6:30 – 9 p.m. Enjoy wine, appetizers, a StarLab show and a unique date experience in our exhibit hall.
