Port of Echuca Discovery Centre

School Holidays at the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre
The Port of Echuca Discovery Centre are running a range of activities to keep the little ones (and big
ones!) entertained. Try the Kids Adventure Tour which is running Tuesday nights April 6th and 13th
from 6.30pm. Experience the Port of Echuca by torchlight on this fun and engaging evening tour.
Catered for the whole family, their guides tell the story of Echuca's historical figures. Cost is $10pp.
Book online or over the phone. Other activities at the Discovery Centre include Murray Ross Art
Class at 10am on the 7th, 9th, 12th and 14th April; and the Aboriginal Craft Session at 11am on the 6th,
8th, 13th and 15th April. Both the Murray Ross Art Class and Aboriginal Craft Session are free
activities.

Echuca Historical Society Museum
Echuca Historical Society located in the 'National Trust' building of the '1869 Echuca Police Station
and Cell complex' has been in operation since 1960, collecting and preserving the history of the town
and area.It is a local history museum, with a strong focus on recording the early settlement along the
Murray River, and has an extensive collection of photos and archives.

Event
The Written Word - Always Tells a Story – an Exhibition
This exhibition takes a look at some of the museum’s vast collection of letters, books and documents
that give an insight to the lives of the early settlers to the region. From land documents, court
records, shopping lists and personal letters, including letters from Henry Hopwood during his brief
but fruitful time in Echuca, our records help build the story of the early days in Echuca and its
pioneer settlers. The exhibition is open daily from 10am until 2pm (except Good Friday) and will be

National Holden Museum
The National Holden Motor Museum was opened in July 1993 and is the oldest continuously
operating Holden Museum. Echuca's National Holden Motor Museum takes you through the
remarkable history of a company that put our nation on wheels. Your journey through Australian
motoring history includes historic film footage, photographic exhibitions, memorabilia, souvenirs
and car related merchandise. We currently have approximately 50 vehicles on display ranging from
the 48-215 to VF. Most of the vehicles on display are privately owned and some (like our rare
prototypes and concept cars) are owned by Holden. Cars are usually on loan from one to three
years. This ensures our displays are always changing so many patrons are repeat visitors.

Great Aussie Beer Shed
The Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Farm Museum will take you right back down memory lane
with an unbelievable display of Aussie Icon paraphernalia including over 17,000 beer cans from
Australia and around the world. Other interesting and related items include tap tops, handles,
barrels, bottles, signs, brewery manufacturing equipment and machinery. You will also see a huge
assortment of iconic Aussie products, brand names and machinery like old petrol Bowsers, washing
machines, a Coca Cola Collection, kitchen and laundry items and even a partially restored WW1
canon. The New Heritage Farm Museum has an extensive display of old farming equipment from the
late 1800's including almost an entire range of Furphy farm water carts. In 2017 a new section to the
Museum was opened known as the Beer Stein and horse drawn carriage Museum. There are
approximately 3000 Beer Steins on display. The carriages include an 1890 Dabb and Co Royal Mail
Coach,1920 Milk cart,1920 Butchers Cart,1930 Bread Cart,1895 Station Buggy built locally in
Rochester,1900 Taxi Cab from Melbourne and a gentleman's Sulky built in Grafton in 1905. The
Great Aussie Beer Shed and Heritage Farm Museum is a licensed premises and is available for private
functions.

Billabong Ranch is a family friendly attraction located just out of Echuca Moama. Our Billabong

Event
Richard, Kerri and the Acquisto family invite you to join our School Holiday Horse Riding & Activity
Camp. The weeklong camp incorporates many aspects of horse husbandry and adventure activities
in a country environment. Our itinerary caters for boys and girls aged between 10 and 17 years.

The camp is fully supervised with loads of activities each day. Senior riding staff are qualified
instructors & trail guides who also compete successfully in a variety of disciplines. Grooming &
Saddling, Trail Riding & Riding Lessons, Western & Natural Horsemanship, Archery, Commando

Gravity Shack has bouncing covered with interconnected trampolines, performance area, giant air
bag, dodgeball area and basketball lanes for the kids (and big kids) to explore. Trampolining is a low

Twisted Science Virtual Reality Journey into Space
Join OzGrav at TwistED Science and travel the solar system in virtual reality. Discover some
interesting - and explosive - objects. Learn about planets, stars and gravitational waves, but don’t
get too close to a black hole or it might stretch you into spaghetti! This event is on Wednesday 14th

Horsehand
HorseHand For A Day - Send the kids along to this wonderful program designed to give every child
the opportunity to make friends with a beautiful horse. This day is jam pack full of horsey Fun!
Grooming, ground communication and riding. Sharing fun times with your horse on our challenge
course and rain ride to cool you down! Working as a team member with other children and the
horses this day brings out the best in everyone. Other activities include whip cracking, roping
performing animals & catching yabbys (in season) Recommended for ages from 6 to 16 years. We
cater for absolute beginners but will vary activities depending on your child’s confidence and

River Country Adventours
River Country Adventours have canoes for hire and safari along most sections of the Goulburn River
with camping and self-guided canoeing from two to eight days catered for. In addition to canoeing,
River Country Adventours have coach tours including winery and eco tours. River Country
Adventours will be available during the forthcoming school holidays with canoes and kayak safaris
on the nearby Goulburn River. Half and full day canoeing available as well as overnight extended

Aqua Island
Aqua Island is an enormous "floating playground" with obstacles waiting for you to conquer with
your friends and family. Enjoy this local adrenaline attraction that is open seasonally, usually
December to mid April depending on the weather. Sessions are available on the following dates

Chanter Estate Military Museum
Enjoy the ambience of this 100 year old church building that has been transformed into a wine
tasting bar and cellar door sales. Experience a bygone era with the historic Commercial and Military
Vehicle display. Horse drawn equipment, amphibious military, vintage vehicles including vintage and
classic motorcycles. Over 40 exhibits from 1900 to 19040’s.

Kyabram Fauna Park
Get up close to nature at Kyabram Fauna Park! We’re home to more than 600 native Australian
animals including koalas, dingoes, kangaroos, wombats, wallabies, echidna, emus, flying-foxes and
quolls. Kangaroos, emus and wallabies are free-ranging. Our reptile house includes native snakes,
crocodile, lizards and turtles and our insect display is home to fascinating mini-beasts. The Park’s
aviaries are a bird-lovers paradise where visitors can get up close to cockatoos, parrots, brush
turkeys, satin bower-birds, owls and endangered bush stone-curlew. The Park encompasses 55
hectares of open woodland, wetlands and lakes. Our wetlands are home to hundreds of waterfowl

Kyabram Fauna Park’s Zoo Keeper for a Day Program is back these school holidays. Zoo Keeper for a
Day is a school holiday program designed for children who are passionate about wildlife! The session
runs from 9am to 1pm and is suitable for ages 8-12 years. Cost is $70.00 including morning tea and
lunch. Spaces are limited and bookings are essential. Operating on April 7th, 9th, 10th, 12th and 14th.

Come and Explore the Creatures of the Night at Kyabram Fauna Park these school holidays.
Creatures of the Night includes animal interactions and presentations whilst having a guided tour
around the Park spotting our resident nocturnal wildlife. Creatures of the Night runs from 7pm to
8.30pm and is $60.00 per adult and $30.00 per child. Places are limited so bookings are essential.

Cactus Country
Imagine yourself in a desert landscape, surrounded by beautiful cacti and other succulents, on sandy
walking trails that take you away to the other side of the world. Spend an afternoon in Mexico, or
the Sahara, but actually right here in Australia! Our huge 12-acre garden has thousands of varieties
of incredible plants that will leave you astonished at how crazy mother nature can be. Our café
courtyard is a wonderful place to chill out while enjoying an ice cold margarita or Mexican beer - and
don’t forget to try our famous cactus cake and cactus ice cream! Exploring our garden is a plant
lover’s dream! The 8 different trails will guide you through South American, Mexico, North American
and South African sections of the garden. There is also Cactus Farmer Jim’s valley of hybrid giants,
which is not to be missed! Our Spotto sheet is a fun little activity for children of all ages to try and
spot the plants photographed and answer the questions about Cacti and Succulents.

The Big Strawberry, Koonomoo
Visit us at the Big Strawberry and taste strawberries straight from our patch to your plate, juicy and
fresh, just like they should be . . .One of the Big icons in Australia, the giant strawberry is one of the
most photographed fruit in Australia and also has a large fully licensed cafe, production
room, strawberry patch, giant indoor playground, history room, man cave memorabilia.

Moama & Echuca Adventure Play Park
The Moama & Echuca Adventure Play Park is open 7 days a week during day light hours and entry is
a gold coin donation. The Playpark is a community built project, designed for children from babies to
teenagers with features to stimulate physical, social and imaginative play experiences. It also caters
for special groups, with the addition of wheelchair access, a Liberty Swing and special play areas.

Moama & Echuca Adventure Play Park is open 7 days a week. Moama & Echuca Adventure Play Park

Moama Skate Park
The Moama Skate Park is accessible 7 days a week, during day light hours. It offers two open bowls,
some fun bank sections and it has several spine ledges and rails. Great landscaping with grassy hills
for the adults to relax on and undercover seating areas. Located in Blair Street Moama, opposite the
Kerrabee sound shell with its free BBQ facilities and children’s playground. It is a great location for
the whole family.

Echuca Moama SUP – Stand Up Paddle boarding
Book one of our sunrise or sunset SUP and take in Echuca and Moama at its finest moments. We
offer a free shuttle upstream from Vic Park Boat Ramp, you'll leave from Chinamen's Bend to paddle

Green Pedal Cycles
Join an E-Bike cycling tour or hire an e-bike! Our electric bikes keep riders of all fitness levels
together by using as much or as little ‘assist’ as you like. There’s so much to discover and you’ll see
more on an e-bike! In addition to our Scenic and Winery Tours, we also offer private, customisable
and extended tours. Our tours range from 90 minutes – 3 hours. Includes Bike, helmet, custom bike
and helmet fitting by your guide, bike operation briefing and skill practice, trail briefing, riding and
safety tips to help you get the most out of your adventure. The minimum height for an electric bike
is 145cm. No minimum age but the tour content is aimed at adults, children must be accompanied.
The riding is easy but you should be stable riding a bike, comfortable getting on and off to walk
across roads and be able to safely ride between pedestrians while on shared paths. Standard Bike

SUP board whenever you please. We are operating the Self Service SUP Vending Machine from the
NSW side of the river at Maidens Inn Discovery Caravan Park, Moama. Get on the water now, access
our new SUP Vending Machine and start your contactless adventure now. The boards are 10m from
the safe quiet waters of Maidens Marina. It’s one of the best place to learn how to SUP. Get a one on
one SUP lesson with Josh from Emu Outdoors in Echuca Moama. Feel safe and secure on the Mighty

Alton Gallery Echuca
Echuca Moama Artists Members Exhibition is on at the Alton Gallery in April. A free exhibition at
Alton Gallery, fundraising for the Echuca Wellness and Oncology Centre. Open 10am to 2.30pm
Friday and 10am to 1pm Saturday. Entry is free. All are Welcome.

Whistle Stop Gallery
Whistle Stop Studio Gallery is a working studio gallery in a heritage-listed railway station (Formerly
Strathmerton Railway Station, relocated to the Port of Echuca in 2002). Visitors to Whistle Stop
Studio Gallery are able to enjoy the art work in all mediums and styles and subject matter including
the Murray River, paddlesteamers, wildlife of the area and contemporary works. Visitors are able to

Foundry Arts Space Exhibition
Pete Conroy’s Sitters Exhibition will be on show at The Foundry Arts Space from Wednesday 31st
March to Sunday 18th April, daily from 10am to 4pm. ‘Sitters’ is a series of figurative portraits
painted from photographs, with over 30 pieces on display.

Campaspe Regional Library School Holiday Activities
These holidays we are partnering with the Kyabram Fauna Park, with park staff providing interactive
animal sessions. In addition, we have children’s author, Glenda Millard, who will share her love of
the environment, and talk about the characters that appear in her award-winning books.”
Other activities include: Sand art – just like colouring in but without pencils or pens, using different
coloured sands; Galaxy jars – creating a magical science experience, mixing colours and cotton wool;
Ceramic mugs – decorating a mug, to take home to bake and then use; Take and make – activity
packs for children to take home, with the pack including all items for the daily activity.

Streets of Your Town
Having delivered a successful series of Pop Up Concerts in the streets of Yarra on the back of a
vintage dodge truck, Trucked Up Entertainment and Press Play Presents have partnered once again
to bring “Streets Of Your Town” to Regional Victoria! Devised as a way of getting musicians playing
again in a Covid -safe environment, 'Streets Of Your Town' brings some of the country’s most
celebrated and exciting talents to Kyneton, Bendigo and Echuca for one weekend only this April. And
from 12 noon in Echuca's Pop Up Park, opposite the Star Hotel in Echuca’s historic Murray
Esplanade, Freya Josephine Hollick labelled one of 5 artists leading the new country renaissance by
Double J closes the weekend with her ubercool band with support from Queenscliff Music Festival
and Port Fairy Folk Festival emerging artist of the year, Fenn Wilson. Sunday 11th April.

Cinema Pop Up Moama
Cinema Pop Up will be popping up in Moama from the 8th to 11th April at the Kerrabee Soundshell

I HEART Echuca Moama
‘I HEART Echuca Moama’ will be a 3D String Art Installation by local artist Tarli Bird. This will be
placed in the Port of Echuca Pop Up Park and installed on Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 April. Onlookers
will be encouraged to be part of the process and help string some of it together. The artwork will
remain in place for a week or so.
