The Editors Musings
Welcome to the July newsletter
What a busy month we have had.
Firstly AGM with small changes in committee. Congratulations Bill on being elected
president for the next two years. It is great that you have been prepared to step up again to
do another stint as ‘the boss’. And congratulations to Kate on being elected to the vice
president role. All other positions stay the same but we are aware that Lynn has given
notice that her time on committee will be coming to an end.
Salon, the highlight of our year, has been & gone. It was good that we could still have our
dinner & presentations as usual. Congratulations to all the place getters and also to all
those who submitted their images. Without everyone’s submissions there would be no
Salon. Awards and photos are on page 5. A big thank you to our judges who give up a
Saturday to critique all your images & come up with all the awards. It is very much
appreciated.
One on One Workshop—Sunday 16th August. You should have received an email from
Lynn regarding this workshop. This is an opportunity to brush up on anything you are
having an issue with, or even to advance your skills to the next step in a particular area.
Outing Astro Photography at PORT WAIKATO—Saturday 22nd August. Please
note the location has been changed from Awhitu to Port Waikato. Information for outings
on page 4. Check it out, Grace has organised some great outings.
On a lovely day like it is today it seems that winter is almost over, the sun is shining, the
daffodils are flowering and the birds are singing instead of having to hold on tight to their
perches. It’s a good time to be out & about.
Auckland Shootout is on again. We are in the process of putting together a team for this
fun challenge. Dates are Saturday 22nd August to Friday 28th August. We will get our
topics on Friday 21st and then it will be all on a for a week to capture our images.
Don’t forget to enter your awesome triptychs in the Nelson Camera Club Triptych
Salon. Details on next page.

Outings for the end of 2020
Saturday August 22nd – Astro Photography at Port Waikato
Meeting at Maraetai Bay at 5pm
Sunset at 5,52pm
High tide is 5.52 pm
If the weather proves to be crap we will cancel. So please everyone let me
know your intent to join this outing.
Bring tripod, shoes or boots, heaps of warm clothing.
Bring short lens and hot drinks.

Meeting in the car park at 5pm, ready for twilight.

Day trip – Ferry leaves 9am on the dot.
