3.1 Energy & Renewables

                                               OnePower Lesotho 20 MW PV plant
                                               OnePower Africa is a fast-growing startup based in Lesotho with the
                                               mission to bring electricity to underserved communities in
                                               developing countries. A 20 MWatt Photovoltaic plant is proposed
                                               for development in the Mafeteng district, Lesotho.

                                               Royal HaskoningDHV conducted the project ESIA to IFC standard,
                                               approved by authorities in 2020. The Abbreviated Resettlement
                                               Action Plan (ARAP), including a full census of landowners, is being
                                               carried out in line with IFC and African Development Bank (AfdB)

                                               PORTHOS Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
                                               CO2 Capture & Storage (CCS) project PORTHOS is Europe’s first
                                               project storing CO2 in a produced gas field offshore. The Port of
                                               Rotterdam, together with Gasunie and EBN, intend to create an
                                               infrastructure in the port of Rotterdam to transport CO2.

                                               In order to do so, both an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
                                               and permit application are required, both conducted by Royal
                                               HaskoninDHV. The EIA was carried out, in consultation with client
                                               and authorities, as an interactive i-Report. It involves assessing
                                               the impacts of the construction of the transportation pipelines

                                           The objectives of the assignment was to develop and deliver a
                                           training program on international Best Available Technologies
                                           (BAT), Best Environmental Practices (BEP) for the design,

                                           Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) as feedstock. The environmental

                                           understand issues of the current operations, environmental profile
                                           of the plants, and identify the training needs of plant managers and

                                           guaranteed supply of consumers with natural gas in any possible
                                           critical situation. It includes injection as well as production facilities,
                                           several wells, a condensate pipeline, connection to the main gas
                                           trunk line and an overhead transmission line.

                                              The project involved a full feasibility study and concept engineering

                                              location a separate ESIA and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) has
                                              been prepared to enhance the benefits of the small hydro plants for

                                               Hornsea Project One and Two
                                               Initially for Hornsea Project One (HOW01) we provided a peer
                                               review role for Ørsted during the preparation of the Environmental
                                               Impact Statement (EIS) and consent process. This involved
                                               technical review of Environmental Statement Chapters and
                                               provision of strategic advice to ensure no overly arduous
                                               construction requirements were placed on Ørsted.

                                               Since the award of consent for HOW01 we have provided a suite of

                                                Azura-Edo Independent Power Plant
                                                The Azura-Edo IPP is a 450MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine power
                                                station being constructed near Benin City in Edo State. It is Phase
                                                1 of a greenfield 1,500MW IPP facility located on a 100-hectare site,
                                                large enough to accommodate future expansion of the power plant.
                                                Greenfield gas turbine power plant in in Edo State. The project dealt
                                                with impacts in terms of economic and physical displacement.
                                                Royal HaskoningDHV was appointed as Lender’ Advisor to assess
                                                the Technical, Environmental and Social risks of the project. Our

                                                plant is to produce natural gas from the Mabrouk North East and the
                                                Greater Barik fields, process this natural gas, a diverse package of
                                                products will be produced, consisting of transport fuels, lubricants,
                                                waxes and chemicals.

                                      NLNG Train 7 Project
                                      This Project consists of construction and operation of one additional
                                      complete liquified natural gas (LNG) train and a common
                                      liquefaction unit at the existing Nigeria LNG Ltd (NLNG) facility on
                                      Bonny Island, in the Niger Delta. The project will increase the LNG
                                      capacity from 22 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 30 mtpa.

                                      ESIA for the Project. We conducted the ESIA including noise

                                      landfall for Nord Stream 2 is planned at a different location. The
                                      Narva Bay route has been selected as having the least
                                      environmental impact for the Russian landfall. This route crosses
                                      the Kurgalsky Peninsula Nature Reserve/Sanctuary both in
                                      nearshore waters and on land.

                                          The Ebedei Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) compressor station

                                          was asked to develop an Environmental and Social Management
                                          System (ESMS) for both the construction and the operational
                                          phase. The ESMS includes the integrated management of all

                                             with the aim to alleviate the scarcity of water supply in the greater

                                             The objective of the SWSH project is to provide water infrastructure

                                             distribution reservoir of 500 m3 to connect 13,868 people in 2028.

                                         Nyaungdon Bank Protection and Rehabilitation Project
                                         The project involves implementation of structural and non-structural
                                         measures to avoid riverbank erosion along the Pan Hlaing River
                                         and reduce flood risks in Nyaungdon City.

                                         to protect the embankment and develop a detailed design for the

                                         in the area resulting in dumping waste in the channels.

                                             Master Plan of the City of Beira
                                             As part of the implementation of the Master Plan of the City of Beira,
                                             the Municipal Council of Beira intends to develop residential and
                                             industrial projects on 500 h each one. In order to allow the land
                                             levelling of these 2 projects, it will be also necessary to dredge

                                             ESIA Passenger Transport Chindwin River Myanmar
                                             The Chindwin river basin suffers from illegal mining and
                                             deforestation activities, affecting the natural balance of the system
                                             and navigability of the river. People living along the Chindwin rely
                                             heavily for transportation on the Chindwin and the river itself has
                                             many challenges in socio-economic issues.

                                            Physical Restauration, Protection and Maintenance Works of
                                            Saly beach
                                            The coastal areas of Saly are currently severely impacted by
                                            coastal erosion. The potential increase in sea level rise threatens to
                                            impact further the current infrastructure built along the coastline
                                            (hotel, fishing village, houses, etc.). Saly, is one of the country's
                                            biggest tourist hubs; as such the Government of Senegal is looking
                                            to address this issue urgently.

                                            Maldives Coastal Protection
                                            The densely populated island of Fuvahmulah (8,500 inhabitants) is
                                            experiencing severe erosion and flooding problems, threatening the
                                            safety and livelihood of the inhabitants. Coastal protection works
                                            have been designed to protect the island’s integrity.

                                            An ESIA was prepared to enhance this design in its environmental
                                            and social aspects. The ESIA was an important instrument to
                                            compare two viable alternatives: an offshore breakwater protection
                                            and an onshore revetment on the island ridge. The design was

                                            EKO Atlantic Land Reclamation
                                            South Energyx is undertaking the development of the Eko Atlantic
                                            project. Phase 1 concerns the Shoreline Protection Reclamation
                                            Project, approximately 900 ha of high quality land, requiring about
                                            90 million m3 of sand to be dredged from the selected borrow areas
                                            off the coast. Phase 2 concerns the development of Eko Atlantic
                                            City Master Plan itself including environmental and transport
                                            infrastructures for about 250.000 residents and 150.000

                                         Guidelines for ESIA in the Port, Harbour and Terminal sector
                                         in Myanmar
                                         Environmental Impact Assessment legislation in Myanmar is well
                                         developed. However, the actual procedures and effectiveness of
                                         the instrument can be enhanced.

                                         Royal HaskoningDHV prepares, together with the Environmental
                                         Conservation Department in Myanmar, the Netherlands
                                         Commission on Environmental Assessment (NCEA) and Water
                                         Bridge Myanmar, Technical and Procedural Guidelines for

                                         Baku Green Port Strategy: EU support to the Enhancement of
                                         Operational Capabilities of New Port of Baku
                                         Technical assistance to the newly built Baku International Sea
                                         Trade Port with EcoPorts certification (successfully obtained in
                                         2019) and the development and implementation of the Green Port
                                         strategy and roadmap, covering all sustainability aspects of the
                                         port from pollution to energy use, health and safety, climate change
                                         resilience and communities development.

                                         Tema Port Dry Bulk Terminal
                                         Tema Port (Accra) is being re-positioned through an extensive
                                         expansion and modernization programme to better serve the needs
                                         of the trading sectors. The Tema Dry Bulk Terminal shall be the
                                         principal location for handling and temporary storage of dry bulk
                                         commodities, especially the cement-related cargoes such as
                                         clinker, lime, limestone, gypsum, cokes, coal, etc.

                                         Royal HaskoningDHV was contracted to conduct a Red Flag Due
