Blessed Carlo Acus and Eucharisc Miracles In this diocesan year devoted to the Eucharist, I recalled that Blessed Carlo Acus had spent twoͲ and oneͲhalf years pu.ng together a website which is a virtual tour of miracles having to do with the Eucharist, as well as some addional informaon regarding what various saints have said. Blessed Carlo was born in 1991 and died of leukemia in 2006. He worked on his website right up unl his death. Carlo had a special devoon to the Eucharist from an early age. His parents were not parcularly devout, and unl Carlo began insisng that they go to church, they were not churchgoers. His mother let them contact a Catholic priest. Faith Formation Theology 101: Early Church HistoryͲ Part 23 When Constan ne became the coͲemperor of Rome there had been two capitals ͲͲ Byzan um and Rome. Constan ne deposed the coͲemperor in Rome and con- solidated the rule under himself. He and his successors further centralized the empire around Constan nople (formerly Byzan um) and for a while Rome reced- ed in importance. During this period several of the tribes on the periphery of the empire became more powerful. The Arian faith was a uni ng factor. Eventually Theodoric the Great, a Goth, became the ruler of Rome. He and his successors FF C R greatly influenced the papacy, even going so far as to appoint popes. Theodoric N did not get involved in the various controversies over dogma that were going on.
