Your Fundraising Guide

Thank you for signing up for Coffee Morning Month this November.
We really appreciate your support, especially given the challenges COVID-19 continues to bring
to all our lives. We want to make it as easy and safe as possible for you to support us in a way
that works for you, your family and friends, as you fundraise for Myeloma UK. So this year we’re
asking you to get creative during Coffee Morning Month and do it Your Way!

We appreciate government guidelines are changing all the time and understand that this year
will be very different to your usual coffee morning plans. Hopefully in November you will be able
to get together, even in small numbers, to have a socially distanced coffee morning, but if not
here are a few other suggestions:

  • Go virtual. It’s a great excuse for an online catch-up over a cuppa. Reconnect with friends
that you’ve not seen in a while or catch up with family over zoom.
  • Go outdoors. What about getting out and about; go for a walk in the fresh air with your
thermos flask, cakes and some good company.
  • Go without for a week. You could simply ask your friends and family to donate the money
they would usually spend on take-away coffee – it’s amazing how much we spend on
      coffee to go!

Every penny raised during Coffee Morning Month will help us to continue providing essential
information and support for myeloma patients, family and carers. It will contribute to our work in
improving standards of treatment and care through research, education and awareness raising.

Help spread the word on social media by sharing your photos on Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram using #CoffeeMorningMonth. You can also find some social media assets on our
website: myeloma.org.uk/coffee.

If you would like to get in touch to share your ideas or have any questions, you can reach me on
0131 557 3332 or email coffee@myeloma.org.uk.

I wish you every success with fundraising plans this Coffee Morning Month and look forward to
hearing how you get on.

                    With best wishes

Your support will help Myeloma UK to:

                  and discover new, tailored treatments

Fund the development of innovative myeloma clinical trials that
give patients access to the most promising new drugs

Deliver unique resources and tailored information for doctors,
nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients

to find a cure for myeloma and we won’t stop until we do. Thank
you for helping make myeloma history

Top tips

Choose Your Way
First of all, decide what you would like to do. Would you like to do a socially distanced coffee
morning, go virtual or go outdoors with your thermos flask as you catch up with friends?
With Government guidance about the pandemic changing all the time, please make sure you
know the guidelines for your local area. You can find out the latest social distancing information
at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/staying-alert-and-safe-social-distancing

Either way decide on a date and let everyone know your plans.

Invite your guests
Use posters, social media, word of mouth, email and your work intranet. Make sure you explain
why you’ve decided to do it Your Way this year and encourage as much support as possible.

Prepare
You can bake or buy cakes for your event. If you have friends or family who love to bake ask them
to help. You can ask local bakeries or shops if they’ll donate some tasty treats.

Enjoy your Coffee Morning
Whatever you decide to do, make sure you have fun! Make sure you take some photos! We
would love to see your pictures. You can email them to coffee@myeloma.org.uk

You should try to limit the exchange of money as much as possible. One way to do this is to set
up a JustGiving page for people to donate http://www.justgiving.com/campaign/CMM2020

Ask everyone who donates offline to complete the donation form so we can claim an additional
25p in Gift Aid for every £1 donated.

Our job is to help you raise as much money as you can and to have as much fun as possible.
We have years of experience and we want to share this with you. We also want to hear about
your preparations and how things are going.

Thank everyone for coming.
