• The GSB satellite campus in the community of Philippi, Cape Town, was established in a deliberate effort to deepen our roots and relevance as an African business school that is seeking to develop more socially relevant solutions to the challenges of our context. • Spearheaded by the GSB MTN Solution Space and the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Philippi Campus is the first community campus to be established by UCT in its 178-year existence.
• On the third day of the summit, the international MBA students were be paired up with 30 local entrepreneurs.
• The day spent together marked the starting point of a one year legacy programme.
• In a 2-hour facilitated workshop, the invited entrepreneurs had the opportunity to present current
challenges/obstacles faced on a daily basis in growing their business in a context of a business environment.
• The MBA Students gain a clear understanding of the
challenges faced by the 30 local entrepreneurs as well as a
good understanding of the infrastructural, financial, social
and knowledge deficit/challenges faced.
• Then, the rest of the day was spend working in small groups
developing solution-approaches for the entrepreneurs that
are creating short, medium and long term practical solutions
for the entrepreneurs.• Entrepreneurial MBA-students met with like- minded peers as well as VC-managers, Investors and the who-is-who of the host city’s top-entrepreneurs in an exclusive setting to engage into in-depth discussions about on-going business topics, share best- practices, seek mutual inspiration and discuss future-business opportunities.
