The Graduate Tiger Handbook is the official university guidebook for
                  graduate students. It is provided to students and applicants for their
                  general guidance only. It does not constitute a contract, either expressed
                  or implied, and is subject to change at the university’s discretion.

                  The Arkansas Baptist State Convention authorized Ouachita Baptist College as its higher
                  education institution in November, 1885. In December of that year the trustees of the
                  university voted to locate the institution in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Classes began in
                  September, 1886, and the institution has operated without interruption in the same location
                  since that date. On January 14, 1965, the Board of Trustees voted to change the name from
                  College to University.
