At the moment we are all stuck at home self-isolating or in confinement, many
of us are away from our families and definitely away from our friends which can
be particularly hard mentally. Children are home from school and they also need
activities to help them cope with what must be a very bewildering time for them.
To get us through this stressful, boring and worrying time a wide range of
agencies and individuals have put together some excellent videos covering
cookery, food & nutrition advice, exercise programmes for all ages mental
wellbeing and general advice on how to cope during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have put together this pack to try and help you navigate through some of
these wonderful resources.

2.3 Older People
Siel Bleu provides exercise programmes to older adults and adults living with chronic
disease. It has published free online indoor exercise videos. The HSE has also published
details of two chair based exercises that you can do at home.

 • Get kids cooking with Jamie Oliver www.jamieoliver.com/features/category/get-kids-
   cooking Well known celebrity chef Jamie Oliver provides recipe ideas for getting the kids
   cooking and baking. You can also follow him on Instagram for live cookery
   demonstrations during Covid-19.

   around food safety, healthy eating, food recipes and food hygiene advice. There is a
   dedicated section on the website for Covid-19 in relation to food safety and healthy
   eating. Safefood also have an online recipe book 101 Square Meal, all recipes are easy to
   prepare, low-budget, tasty, yet highly nutritious.

 • Bord Bia- https://www.bordbia.ie/ an Irish state agency which aims to promote Irish
   food and drink. The website provide loads of ideas for cooking traditional Irish
   recipes. If you follow Bord Bia on Facebook or Instagram they are currently teaming up
   with celebrity chef and Dieticians for live cookery demonstrations.

 • Operation Transformation https://ot.rte.ie/ Well known RTE TV show- while it is now
   finished the website still provides as a useful tool for healthy recipes ideas and food
   shopping list.

       delighted to be a part of. It aims to increase health awareness in the areas of Mental

4. General Information:
4.1 Training:
Free online courses are available at www.Alison.com. Courses range from IT, Languages,
Science, Health, Humanities, and Business & Lifestyle.

4.2 Supports

An Post is introducing two new services to support communities during the current COVID-
19 crisis.‘Request a Check-In’ is a facility for family members to request a specific ‘An
Post Check-In’ by the local postman or postwoman for an older or vulnerable person during
the current ‘Cocooning’ period.

Also launching is An Post’s Newspaper Delivery service which will provide same-day

4.3 Farming
Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine WEBSITE www.agriculture.gov.ie
Department’s public offices are closed to the public for the present, however, a new
telephone helpline to assist farmers with their queries in relation to current COVID-19
restrictions is in place from 1 April and the dedicated phone number is 076 1064468.
The phone lines will be open from 9.30am to 12.30m and from 2pm to 5pm. A range of
online facilities are also available.
