HERITAGE EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS 2020 1 FOREWORD The National Heritage Board (NHB), together with its museums, heritage institutions and divisions, have developed a wide range of exciting educational programmes coming your way in 2020! These programmes have been curated to encourage active student participation and to instil in students a greater understanding and appreciation of Singapore’s heritage. They are developed in partnership with key education partners such as Ministry of Education, Early Childhood Development Agency and other museum educators and partners. As a result of the above partnerships, NHB’s educational programmes are aligned with the teaching of Humanities, Social Studies, Character and Citizenship Education and 21st Century Competencies. In addition, as part of NHB’s life cycle approach towards heritage education, our programmes cater to students at every stage of their academic journeys, from pre-school to primary school, secondary school to tertiary level. At NHB, we believe that heritage education is important because it contributes to a better understanding of Singapore’s history and plays a crucial role in strengthening students’ sense of national identity and belonging. Through quality educational programmes, we hope to provide an engaging and interactive environment to inspire students to learn about our past, appreciate our present and embrace the future with confidence. This booklet acts as a one-stop easy reference tool for educators, parents and students to explore the various educational programmes offered by NHB and our museums, heritage institutions and divisions across different age groups. So sign up for our programmes and experience heritage up-close!
2 NATIONAL HERITAGE BOARD NATIONAL HERITAGE BOARD The National Heritage Board (NHB) was formed on 1st August 1993.
