What’s a better holiday gift than a new home? That’s why December 4-31*,
adoption fees on all adult animals** have been pre-paid by Priority Automotive to
help more animals find their homes this paw-liday season. Dogs, cats, rabbits and
more – Priority has covered the adoption fees. So if you’re looking to make a pet’s
perfect pawliday season, schedule an adoption appointment at the AWLA this
December to meet your new best friend!

EVENT FULL: Low-Cost Rabies,
Distemper and Microchip Clinic

The AWLA is hosting a Drive-Up Rabies, Distemper and Microchip Clinic for dogs
and cats at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter!              The clinic will be BY
RESERVATION ONLY. The cost for these vaccinations is $15 per pet, and the
clinic will run from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm on Wednesday, January 5. Up to two pets
can receive vaccinations and/or microchips during a 5-minute appointment.

To ensure we are observing the best safety protocols for our human and animal
visitors and our staff, all attendees will be required to comply with the following
guidelines:

       All human attendees over the age of 2 years must wear a mask at all
       times.
       You must arrive by your scheduled time, or we will not be able to serve
       you.
       Owners will not be permitted to enter the building.
       All dogs must be on leashes; cats must be in carriers. If you need a leash
       or carrier, please contact us at community@alexandriaanimals.org prior
       to the event.

Vaccinations offered:

Rabies – for dogs and cats
DA2PP – Canine Distemper-Adenovirus Type 2-Parainfluenza-Parvovirus vaccine,
for dogs
FVRCP – Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia vaccine, for cats

    Cost: $15 per pet for both or either rabies or DA2PP/FVRCP

Microchips:

PetLink Microfindr microchips – For dogs and cats

    Cost: $10 per pet

All cats will receive a 1-year rabies vaccination. Dogs with a current rabies
vaccination are eligible for a 3-year rabies vaccination. If requesting a 3-year
rabies vaccination for your dog, you must bring a copy of your dog’s current
rabies certificate (not the rabies tag) to the Clinic. Dogs must be over 5 months
to receive a Distemper vaccine.

Once you have registered, the AWLA will contact you via email to complete
registration paperwork ahead of the clinic. Payment can be made by cash, check
or credit card on the day of the event.                     For questions,

Virginia law requires that all dogs and cats four months of age and older have a
current rabies vaccine. Residents of the City of Alexandria are also required to
license dogs and cats four months of age and older. Information about licensing

         Clínica de Bajo Costo contra la Rabia y el Moquillo
¡La AWLA está organizando una clínica de rabia, moquillo y microchip para
perros y gatos en el Vola Lawson Animal Shelter! La clínica será SOLO CON
RESERVA. El costo de estas vacunas es de $15 por mascota y la clínica estará
abierta de 5:30 pm a 7:30 pm el miércoles, 5 de enero. Hasta dos mascotas
pueden recibir vacunas y/o microchips durante una cita de 5 minutos.

Para asegurarnos de que estamos ejecutando los mejores protocolos de seguridad
para nuestros visitantes tanto humanos como animales además de nuestro
personal, todos los asistentes deberán cumplir con las siguientes pautas:

       Todos los asistentes humanos mayores de 2 años deben usar una máscara
       en todo momento.
       Debe llegar a la hora asignada para su cita o no podremos atenderlo.

Todos los gatos recibirán una vacuna antirrábica de 1 año. Los perros con una

Junior Paws: Animal                                             Talk            –
Snowflake Snack Time!
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria’s virtual humane education
program, Junior Pet Advocacy and Wildlife Series (PAWS) is a series
of humane education lessons ranging from crafts to careers. Lessons utilize Zoom
to bring fun and learning directly to kids and their families at home! Families who
register will be emailed the Zoom meeting link and password along with any
digital resources needed for their lesson.

This class is one of our FREE 30 minute sessions, and registration is required.

Animal Talk – Snowflake Snack Time!
FREE! Ideal for Elementary School! Join as we talk about enrichment and how we
are incorporating snowflakes for seasonal fun!
Please note: All youth participants must have parent/guardian permission in order
to participate. Children in elementary school or younger should have a
parent/guardian with during the zoom meeting in case their child needs
assistance.

AWLA Teen Service Day
Join the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for a day of service!
The AWLA Youth Program is hosting a Teen Service Day on Martin Luther King Jr.
Day! This service day will give high school students the opportunity to give back
and help Alexandria’s Animals, both at our shelter facility and throughout the
community.

Teens who register will:

        Learn about the AWLA and participate in a behind-the-scenes shelter tour
        Create enrichment items to distribute to our dogs, cats and small animals
        Learn how we use clicker and target training with shelter animals
        Earn community service hours
        Make a huge difference in the lives of animals!

Registration

All participants must be high school students between the ages of 14 and
17 years old. The registration fee for this Teen Service Day is $50. This fee
helps us offset the costs of the educational materials and project supplies. It also
allows us to direct more money toward the care of animals in need.

 Following guidelines from the City of Alexandria, all teens must provide
proof of their COVID vaccination OR a negative COVID test from within 48
   hours of the event in order to participate. Face masks are required.
