The University of Chicago
and Chicago Booth
Part of the world-renowned University of Chicago, Chicago Booth is the
second-oldest business school in the United States and one of the most
distinguished.

Our pathbreaking research and our innovations in business education—
including developing the first executive MBA program—have produced ideas
and leaders that shape the world of business.

Our unparalleled faculty is famous for producing theories that change
business practice. The university is home to more than 80 Nobel laureates,
seven of whom have been Booth faculty.

The Chicago Approach to Business Education
Grounded in a fundamentals-based understanding of how organizations
function, markets work, and people make decisions, our approach to business
education resonates beyond the classroom. It’s a distinct way of learning,
analyzing, and behaving in the world.

At Chicago Booth, we believe in data over dogma. You and your classmates
will harness your experiences and the power of open, rigorous, and thoughtful
inquiry to challenge assumptions and test and refine ideas. Scrutiny is about
getting to better ideas—not the individual.

The Chicago Approach becomes a signature of our alumni’s personal brand,
giving them the ability to see connections that transcend accepted wisdom
and empowering them to have greater and more enduring impact.

                                                                                1

Curriculum
The Executive MBA is a general management program with a curriculum that
includes the same courses, taught by Chicago Booth faculty, on all three campuses.
Students also have the option to focus on an area of elective study.

    Foundations (3 Courses)
These courses focus on developing analytical tools and knowledge that supports the rest of
    the curriculum.

Functions (5 Courses), Management (7 Courses), Business Environment (2 Courses)
    These courses cover basic business functions (finance, marketing, and operations);
management (decisions, people, and strategy); as well as the business environment in which
    firms operate.

Electives (3-5 Courses) and Focused Areas of Study
During the program, students have the opportunity to take three to five electives that vary
from year to year. Frequently these courses are on cutting-edge or advanced topics. Students
can choose to focus on one key area of business: capital markets, corporate finance,
entrepreneurship, marketing, strategy, or leadership and management.

    Leadership Training
Leadership Exploration and Development (LEAD) is a required course in which students
work on key leadership skills, such as building self-awareness, creating effective teams, and
    enhancing leadership presence and impact.

                                                                   FOUNDATIONS
