KEEP CALM AND MUSHROOM ON! - November 1-10, 2019 - Visit Mendocino County
WELCOME TO

In November, Mendocino County is just the place to Find your
Happy! Join the festivities this year at MUSHROOM FEAST
MENDOCINO as we roll out the red carpet for a panoply of
events that will entice your tastebuds to sample savories and
sweets, make you want to swish and swirl our liquid assets by the
glass, get you to unplug and learn to forage for fun and fungi, and
stay a night or two, or more, in some of the most unique lodging
properties in Northern California!

As the first rains start to fall, mushrooms flourish in abundance in
Mendocino County, which is home to over 3,000 types of fungi.
It’s the perfect place to sample and pick some of the 500 types
of delicious edible mushrooms, such as chanterelles, porcinis,
hedgehogs, and even the extremely rare candy cap mushroom,
a culinary treat with an intense maple syrup flavor, which grows
only along the northern coast of California (and makes for
delicious ice cream!).

Come and savor the Mendocino County experience …
              November 1 through 10, 2019!

WHERE CAN I FORAGE? Many folks have their
secret spots in the County either on private property or at a
resort that allows guests to hunt for mushrooms. We recommend
you forage with a guide or join one of the guided walks offered
during the festival. Make sure to pick up a permit ($20) to forage
in Jackson State Demonstration Forest. Call 707.964.5674 or visit
http://calfire.ca.gov and look for the Mushroom Permit link. Maps,
applications and FAQs can also be found on the website. PLEASE
NOTE: It is illegal to forage in State Parks and violations can be
punishable with fines up to $1,000.
