“Get Here Wit’ It”
We are The Ladies Of Elegance, also known as the only all female,
non-greek step team here at Temple University. We promote physical health and
unity among women. We give back to the community in various occasions and
perform at events and competitions throughout the year. We conduct ourselves
well in public and hold our team name high.
About LOE
The Ladies of Elegance (L.O.E) was founded at the campus of Temple University in
2001 by Jenaya Smith. L.O.E is an all female, non-greek step team. L.O.E performs on and off
campus and competes two to three times a year for grand prizes. Our founder, Jenaya, founded
this amazing organization in hopes that females with all different backgrounds can come together
doing something that they love. When Jenaya came to attend Temple University, she wanted a
sisterhood and a bond with other females and she did not know how to do it. Greek life wasn’t
something she felt she wanted to be a part of and she knew there were many girls out there that
might have felt the same way. Three years after founding L.O.E, teammate and Step Coordinator
Brandi Baldwin created an annual step competition called “Step Or Die”. Step Or Die is a step
competition hosted by the Ladies of Elegance. Teams from many different areas on the east coast
compete at our school for a grand prize of $500. Step Or Die has been active every single year
and L.O.E has just completed our 13th annual Step Or Die. Jenaya succeeded very well with her
hopes and visions. Jenaya, Brandi and many other alumni still visit the team till this day to help
out and assist. The Ladies of Elegance strives to continue this legacy and sisterhood.

all times. Hoops, dangly jewelry, etc. are considered a hazard and are prohibited at
all practices and performances. You may choose to come to practice already
dressed or arrive early so you have time to change your clothes. If you arrive to
practice in inappropriate attire, you will be sent home to change and you MUST
return to practice. If you fail to return to practice, you will be marked as absent.
Attendance
       1. Everyone should be ON TIME, dressed, in positions, and ready to go at the
          designated location by 6:30pm.
       2. 3 lates will equate to 1 absence.

       4. 3 unexcused absences per semester will result in removal of upcoming
          performance privileges.
       5. No call, no show DOES NOT equal an absence.
       6. Excused absences include but are not limited to illness, family issues,
          school, work, etc.
       7. “No call, no show”, which means not attending practice without notifying
an E-Board member will result in suicides and a warning.
       8. 2 NO CALL NO SHOWS automatically leads to dismissal from the
           organization.

We have a strict attendance policy. If you plan on being late or missing
practice for a legitimate reason, you MUST contact the secretary to inform her or
any other E-Board member. If you miss any practices, it is YOUR job to MAKE
SURE you are caught up to everything that was taught during those practice days.
Termination/Dismissal
There will be a procedure for when a member is terminated/dismissed from
the organization. She will be held in a meeting with the executive board and
supervisor of the organization about the incident that took place. The member
being dismissed will need to write a resignation letter and sign a misconduct form
    with the President.
Appeal
An appeal can be made when an officer has been terminated from their
position. To do so, this officer will need to write a letter about the situation to the
LOE email. They then will be notified from the executive board on a meeting that
will be taken place. During the meeting with the board and supervisor, the officer
being dismissed will state their proposal and the proper actions will be taken place
as a result to their appeal.
Performances
Due to limited spacing for certain events, tryouts will be held amongst the
team in order to be considered as a performer for those particular performances.
Attendance will play a role in consideration for performance spots. Extra practices
will be held and mandatory prior to upcoming performances. If you feel you are
unable to participate in a performance or attend extra practices please make
    E-board aware.

Guest Policy
No guests are permitted at practice except for visitors from out of town.
The President or Vice-President must be made aware of visitors at any point
    before the scheduled practice time.
Community Service
Community service is MANDATORY. Two community services events
must be completed per semester at minimum with LOE.. The team will be
informed throughout the year when new community service opportunities arise.

Academics
All members are required to be on good academic standing throughout the
year in order to remain an active member on the team. As a member on this team,
it is your responsibility to balance practices/events and your studies and to plan
accordingly when the semester starts to get busy. If you need personal time off to
focus on your academics, speak with the President or Vice President on how to
    accommodate your situation.
Behavior
We are The Ladies Of Elegance and to be apart of such a well-known student
organization, we must live up to the name we wear on our backs. It is our job as
young ladies to conduct ourselves appropriately and resolve any issues among the
team in a mature and appropriate manner. The President, Vice President and other
E-Board members will be used as mediators for any issues among our team.
Outside issues remain outside of our team and left at the door when at
practice/events. Remember: Your actions are a reflection of yourself and the
       team as a whole!
Dues
Every member MUST pay dues, which are $40 per semester. The dues go
into everything our organization will take part in during the semester, such as
events and/or costumes. If dues are not paid, you will not be able to participate in
performances until they are paid. If for some reason it may be a little difficult to
pay, you are able to form some sort of payment plan with the treasurer. Dues are
due within the first two weeks of practice.
1ST SEMESTER DUES ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 28, 2017.
Gear that may or may not be provided besides the LOE shirt do not come from
semester dues. Furthermore, if you are to leave the group voluntarily, or if you are
dismissed from the organization but have still received benefits of the dues, you will not
receive a refund.
