Dear Members of the Preservation Commission:

We support David Soza and John Dalrymple, owners and residents of 26
Weybridge Road, in their efforts to secure a retroactive approval of their backyard
fireplace. The fireplace, tastefully designed to complement the existing building
features, was constructed with materials appropriate for the site and the carefully
restored house. This backyard addition preserves and enhances the distinctive
       characteristics of the property.

       Thank you.

        Dear Preservation Commission,

I write in support of our neighbors' backyard fireplace at 26 Weybridge Road.

I had not thought of it as a fireplace. It can't be seen at the same time as the
house as it is on the other side of their yard. And is part of the garden's stone
wall. David and John are the best neighbors, turning a rather bland yard into a
wonderful garden with so much to see every season. They work so hard at it but
seem to enjoy it; we, who look on to it, enjoy it too!

We have lived opposite 26 since 1978 and appreciate everything the Preservation
Commission as well as David and John have done to the house. I spent many,
many hours, as I know the staff did too, with Nelia Sargent, the previous owner,
and am so happy with the result.

       Dear Ms. McCarthy,

We are the residents of 9 Somerset Road; our property abuts the residence at 26 Weybridge Road.

We are aware that our neighbors have installed a lovely stone fireplace along their side of the property
line, under the pergola. The fireplace has a historic feel, in keeping with their beautiful home, and
echoes the 19th century stone retaining wall that lines the backyard of both properties. It has really
added to the neighborhood, especially during pandemic times. It has created a lovely space for
socializing during all four seasons. Passersby often stop to chat and enjoy the fire, which is wonderful
for our sense of community in this corner of Brookline.

We have experienced no disruption to our property. In fact, the stone fireplace is not visible from our
side of the property line, because of their thoughtful design involving the pergola.

We fully support the presence of the stone fireplace in the backyard of the 26 Weybridge Road
property. Please feel free to contact us for any questions or clarifications.

       Dear Ms. McCarthy -

It is our pleasure to write a letter in support of the outdoor backyard fireplace addition located at 26
Weybridge Road at the residence of our friends Dave & John Dalrymple. We have known them since
they have moved in four years ago and are delighted to have them as neighbors. We are only a few
houses around the corner and can see into their backyard from our guest bedroom.

They have done a wonderful job designing and building out their backyard over the past few years,
our whole family has enjoyed seeing everything develop as well as the fun decorations they put on
their wall and trees on Weybridge Road throughout the year. The stone fireplace they had installed
fits very well with the architecture and design of both their house and the neighborhood. Given how
easy it is to see their property from the road we were happy that they did such a great job both
creating an area that gave them a wonderful space to enjoy outside as well as making it fit in with the
style of the houses and yards in the surrounding area.

In conclusion we fully support this addition to their wonderful home and property.

       Sincerely,
Sawyer Sawyer & Jeff Rudolph, P6 TMM

       Dear Ms. Mccarthy,

We write in support of our neighbors John Dalrymple and David Soza regarding their backyard fireplace.

It comes as a surprise to learn that it has become an issue at all. We have lived in this neighborhood for more
than 30 years and remember what an eyesore that property was for the longest time until it was renovated a
few years ago and then bought by John and David. It has been a sheer pleasure to see how they have
enhanced their home with loving attention to every detail in nurturing a beautiful garden all around. It is a
treat to walk by and enjoy the lovely yard, garden and aesthetic ambience of their backyard, deck and an
inviting, warm cozy fireplace. We look forward to our daily walks by their house/back yard which is soothing
to the eye and always inviting.

It is our opinion that every little attention and care by them has not only enhanced their home and outdoor
area, it has been a wonderful addition on Weybridge lane and its surrounding area. They have added not just
the external beauty of this property but contributed towards a more interactive and friendly neighborhood.
They have contributed not only towards the beauty of their home and its surrounding with these
improvement but created an inviting space - warm and cozy and yet maintains the distinctive aspects of this
       lovely home.

We hope that the Brookline Town Preservation Commission will not only support such endeavors but
welcome homeowners like John and David who enhance and preserve the historic elements and maintain the
vibrancy of a living neighborhood. We support them and their work without reservation and hope that your
       commission would too.
