WITMER, DONNA (nee ARMITAGE)

In the wee small hours of the morning – on the day before her 82nd birthday – Donna Mae
Witmer of Meaford, and formerly of Kitchener, slipped away on Tuesday August 21, 2018.
Donna was born and raised in Kitchener, the third beloved child of Harry and Marvel (nee
Underwood) Armitage. After decades of rallying in the face of myriad serious ailments, she
whispered her gracious thanks to the nurse and was finally able to let go.

This dearest of ladies is missed beyond words by her devoted
husband Darcy and her siblings: Verla (Rodger), Doug (Muriel),
Karen (late Larry), and Rhea (Dennis). She was adored by her
children Cyndi, Michael, Cathie (Mike) and Becky (Rob), her 14
                        grandchildren, step-grands, and their children.

A snapshot of Donna: freckles, creamsicles, licorice, Arrow,
Newscott, slingbacks, Revlon bronze lipstick, Streisand, Stratford
theatre, scotch and soda, crosswords, confidante, warm hands,
enviable complexion !! Irreplaceable Sweetheart, Sister, Best Friend,
                        Mother, Mother-in-law, Nana.

A graveside celebration remembering the joy she brought to the lives of those who knew her
will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford on Wednesday October 17th at 11 a.m.
where her ‘ashes’ will be laid to rest beside her youngest son, Steven (Susan). There on the
other side, she can again embrace the treasured family and friends who have gone before her,
and whom she has been missing so dearly.

And from Darcy: Should you go first and I remain,
One thing I’d have you do:
Walk slowly down that long, long path,
                                For soon I’ll follow you.
I’ll want to know each step you take
That I may walk the same,
For some day down that long, long road
You’ll hear me call your name.
Taken from “Should You Go First” by A.K. Rowswell
