Our Founder

In today’s knowledge economy, people are the prime
resource to create sustainable competitive advantage.
Given this, there is huge demand for HR professionals to

premier HR talent shortage due to very few institutes
offering quality HR education. TAPMI’s PGDM-HR is aimed
at addressing this gap. It is a unique HR program focused
on creating specialists who can partner business growth,
which is the need of the day. Students will be trained to
have a strong focus on business environment awareness
and the need for upgrading human competencies to meet
that challenge.

The graduates from this program will be skilled in
five strands that makes a difference to business -
1) leadership competencies including how to use
leadership psychometrics, develop leadership compe-
tencies and coaching, 2) use of analytics, evidence based
HR and managing technology, 3) creating and changing
culture for aligning the organization to strategy,
4) designing, and changing organizational structure to
meet strategy using contemporary organizational
development (OD) techniques, and 5) strong industrial
relations and negotiation skills.

Program Structure
The PGDM-HR is divided into six trimesters spread over
two years of the Program. During the first three terms of
the first year, all students study courses related to Human
Resource Management with few elementary courses
related to other disciplines like Marketing, Operation
Management, Information System Management and
Finance. It also covers courses related use of
management techniques in business, business
communication, basics of people management
processes, use of HR tools and measurement ,
communication for persuasion and negotiation etc.

Students are required to do a project on issues of societal
relevance by the end of first year. Students would take up

        Association with SHRM India
        For PGDM-HR, TAPMI has partnered with Strategic Human
        Resource Management India, a wholly owned subsidiary
        of the Society for Human Resource Management (see
        www.SHRM.org). TAPMI in collaboration with SHRM India
        will train all students to take the SHRM Certified
        Professionals (SHRM CP) Global Certification, the most
        coveted HR certification for HR professionals. TAPMI will
        embed the content of the certification in the PGDM-HR
        program. Of course, each student is responsible for
        meeting the criteria of SHRM including passing the
        certification examination.

        Founded in 1948, the mission of SHRM is to serve and
        advance the profession of HR. SHRM believes in upping
        the skills of HR executives by providing extensive
        research-driven HR education programs. SHRM’s
        education program is aligned to global standards and
        provides the students with a wide range of skills not only
        in talent areas but also in how business works, creates

        members. By partnering with SHRM India, TAPMI will gain
        access to a plethora of knowledge to ensure that the
        PGDM – HR students are given contemporary knowledge

The Finance Forum at TAPMI is an initiative to create a vibrant

professionals, alumni and faculty and provides a multitude of

                                                                  The HR Forum organizes TAPMI's flagship event DISHA, the

TAPMI Journal of Economics and Finance
TAPMI Journal of Economics and Finance (TJEF) is a student-
run, peer-reviewed journal which publishes research papers
of business students every quarter. Finance enthusiasts are
encouraged to write research papers/articles on current
topics in banking, economics, and finance. It also publishes
papers from professionals, alumni, and faculty.

                                                                TAPMI Systems Group
                                                                TAPMI Systems Group provides a platform to gain insights
                                                                about the latest technological trends in the industry.
                                                                Workshops on various Business Intelligence tools required in
                                                                the industry like Tableau, R, Google analytics etc are
                                                                conducted, providing exposure to the IT and Analytics
                                                                domain and making students industry- ready.

The Marketing Forum
The Marketing Forum aims to help the students of marketing
gain expertise in their field through numerous events such as
M-Power and sessions conducted by the in-house faculty
and external industry experts to impart real-world
knowledge to the students. It also publishes M-World, a
fortnightly newsletter which features articles on marketing
trends.

                                                                Since its inception in 2013, the TAPMI Toastmasters Club,
                                                                chartered under Toastmasters International, has been
                                                                dedicated to the organization's mission to "empower
                                                                individuals to become more effective communicators and
                                                                leaders”. Recently, it was awarded "Spirit of 92" in the District
                                                                Annual Conference, thereby acquiring the status of a
                                                                distinguished club. It has seen tremendous growth over the
                                                                years, with several members winning regional level
                                                                competitions.

                                                                Treasury Committee
                                                                Treasury committee lives by its core values namely Integrity,
                                                                Transparency, Partnership and Preservation. They take care
                                                                of the finances of all the other committees. They ensure
                                                                transparency in whatever they are accountable for as it boils
                                                                down to finance from the administration.

Significant Events
                                                              COBCAM

                                                              COBCAM brings the bigwigs of Financial Industry and the
                                                              Banking & Finance students of TAPMI together on one
                                                              common platform. The event comprises panel
                                                              discussions, roundtable discussions, mentoring sessions
                                                              and guest lectures. The discussion pertains to various
                                                              facets of the financial sector, developments in the
                                                              economy and markets, challenges faced by the industry
                                                              and the road ahead.

Atharva

The oldest committee in TAPMI with a legacy of 31 years,
Atharva organizes TAPMI’s annual fest with over 1500
participants from across 50 B-schools. With “inFINity” in
Finance, “Make Your Mark” in Marketing, “sHRishti” in HR,
“Sankalp” in Business Planning, “Xpressions” – the
cultural night and Run for a Cause Marathon, Atharva
provides an exciting platform for students to interact with
the corporate world personally.

                                                              DISHA

                                                              The HR committee conducts DISHA, the 3-day annual HR
                                                              Conclave of TAPMI. One of the largest HR Conclaves in the
                                                              country, DISHA provides a platform for students to interact
                                                              with HR experts from various sectors of the industry
                                                              discovering new perspectives and understanding the
                                                              expectations of the industry as a whole. The 9th edition of
                                                              DISHA held in 2017, based on the theme ‘Metamorphosis:
                                                              Redesign, Recreate and Transform’, comprised of guest
                                                              lectures, panel discussions, competitions and
                                                              interactions with experts from HR domain.

FINOMENAL

Finomenal, the annual finance conclave is organized by
The Finance Forum of TAPMI. It is a student-run initiative to
bring together Economists, CXO’s, Bankers, Regulators
and Fund Managers to discuss recent trends, emerging
issues, challenges and opportunities in the industry and
the way ahead. TAPMI Bloomberg Olympiad is one the
highlights of this event, and it aims to test the expertise of
the students on Bloomberg Terminals.

                                                                 Joy of Giving

                                                                 Joy of Giving is a social responsibility awareness
                                                                 initiative launched by the Social Endeavour Group of
                                                                 TAPMI with the aim of spreading joy among the lesser
                                                                 privileged in the society. Joy of Giving provides an
                                                                 opportunity for the students, faculty, and staff of TAPMI to
                                                                 give back to society and experience the joy of sharing,
                                                                 first hand.

MANEESHI

MANEESHI is an initiative launched by Omega, the
consultancy wing and the Social Endeavour Group of
TAPMI, with the aim of capturing the entrepreneur scene
currently prevalent in the country. A 3-day event,
MANEESHI provides an eventful journey for all the guests,
faculty and students through panel discussions,
competitions, workshops and cultural night.

MANTHAN

Manthan is the annual Budget Conclave of TAPMI and
comprises a whirlwind of discussions and analysis of the
Union Budget by industry pundits, followed by
Arthsankalp, an exciting session where teams of students
present their analysis of select sectors within the Budget.
It is organized by the Finance Forum of TAPMI.

                                                              M-POWER

                                                              TAPMI’s inaugural edition of FMCG conclave “M-POWER” is
                                                              a two-day event aimed to bring together industry
                                                              stalwarts for discussion and exchange of ideas
                                                              showcasing TAPMI as a potential talent pool for the FMCG
                                                              industry. Eminent speakers from 14 FMCG giants like
                                                              Coca-Cola, Britannia, PepsiCo, Kohinoor Specialty Foods,
                                                              Mondelez, Pidilite, Mother India Farms, Parag Milk Foods,
                                                              Raymond, Himalaya and Aditya Birla Retail participated in
                                                              the event. The event consisted of events such as
                                                              Symposium - The Panel Discussions, Adjuxta - The Case
                                                              Study Challenge, MarketKshetra - The Debate
                                                              Competition, Effulgence - The Marketing Quiz, a Plenary
                                                              Session and 2 interactive sessions with Industry experts.

QoTB™

Quiz on The BeachTM (QoTB), India’s biggest on-campus
quiz, is conducted by TAPMI on the beautiful beaches of
Manipal. Besides bringing together the sharpest student
minds from around the globe, it serves as an opportunity
for them to interact, network and, more importantly, learn
from their colleagues in other top Institutes. The latest
edition of the quiz, QoTB™ 2016, saw over 600 teams from
3 countries fighting it out for fame, glory and the coveted
QoTB™ Champions tag.

SCOPE

SCOPE, the flagship event of the Operations Forum of
TAPMI, is a 2-day Operations Conclave that aims to
enhance the student interaction with the industry experts
through a series of panel discussions, lecture series,
competitions like case study challenge and quiz and Q&A
sessions. With events such as Battle of States, Canvas,
and Ops Quiz, SCOPE provides a platform for the students
to showcase their analytic prowess and knowledge.

                                                            SPEED

                                                            SPEED is the Annual Sports Extravaganza at TAPMI. Played
                                                            in the format of the Olympics, the fest lasts for more than
                                                            a month. Students form teams and battle it out in 12
                                                            different sports like Athletics, Swimming, Basketball, Table
                                                            Tennis, Volleyball, Football, Cricket etc. SPEED gives an
                                                            opportunity to develop and enhance leadership skills,
                                                            sportsmanship, teamwork, and more importantly grow as
                                                            an individual in the process.
Bloomberg Olympiad

“TAPMI, in collaboration with Bloomberg LP hosts the
Bloomberg Olympiad, an intense competition testing the
participants' expertise of the Bloomberg terminals.
Bloomberg champions from top B-schools of the country
battle it out over two days for the coveted title of
'Champion of Champions' through a set of challenges
aimed at implementing Bloomberg functionalities across
various financial concepts.”

                                                            WINTER SCHOOL MAX PLANCK

                                                            TAPMI in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for
                                                            H u ma n D e v e l o p me nt ( Ma x - P l a nc k - I ns t i t u t f ü r
                                                            Bildungsforschung or MPIB) and the University of
                                                            Southampton (Soton) Business School is organizing the
                                                            Second Winter School in Manipal (Karnataka), India. In
                                                            January 2017, the institute was honored to have Professor
                                                            Gerd Gigerenzer, Director at the Max Planck Institute for
                                                            Human Development and Director of the Harding Center
                                                            for Risk Literacy in Berlin at the campus, to deliver an
                                                            address to the students.
