Meet the New VUAA Board President:
Chelsey Bradford ’16 Gordon
Chelsey graduated with a bachelor of science in civil engineering in 2016 and currently
works as a stormwater engineer for Porter County, Indiana. During her time at Valpo,
she was president of the Student Alumni Association and involved with the American
Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) chapter. Chelsey has been a member of the Alumni
Association Board of Directors since 2017. She is excited to lead and continue the
progress of the VUAA board and all alumni over the next two years. In her free time,
Chelsey can be found hiking with her husband TJ Gordon ’15, gardening, or spending
time with friends.

Valpo Basketball Announces Television Dates
Men’s basketball road dates at UNI (Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.) and Loyola (Feb. 17 at 7
p.m.) have been selected for regional television distribution. Additionally, four
Valpo men’s games and one women’s game have been chosen for Valley on
ESPN exclusive delivery on ESPN3 or ESPN+.

Valpo First-Generation Student Receives “Realizing the Dream”
Scholarship
Larissa Chavarria ’23 is the 2020–2021 recipient of the “Realizing the Dream”
scholarship at Valparaiso University. The annual award, made possible by a
grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., recognizes outstanding academic success by
awarding a $3,000 scholarship to a first-generation sophomore student who
excelled during their freshman year.

Talmadge “Tad” Brenner ’87 J.D. Sworn in Illinois Eighth Judicial
Circuit Court Judge
Tad has worked for many years in private practice with an emphasis on civil
litigation, most notably in the field of church property disputes. He also
served as a public defender in Adams County for several years, and spent
his early career focusing on tax and business law in Peoria.

Anita Milanovich ’04 J.D. Named Montana Governor’s General
Counsel
Anita brings more than 16 years of legal experience to the governor’s office,
litigating constitutional issues in over 20 states and nearly all federal
appellate circuits. She has prepared dozens of briefs filed in the U.S.
Supreme Court, written legal articles, and has guest lectured at universities
on constitutional law and policy.
