AT ERINDALE VIKINGS 212019 Canberra Vikings The Canberra Vikings have assembled for their 2019
NRC season, which commences on August 31 2019 in
Melbourne. Our boys spend their first two weeks on the
road, before welcoming Brisbane City to Viking Park
on the 14th of September.
The Vikings squad is brimming with talent and consists
of Wallabies, Brumbies and some of the local John I Dent
competitions rising stars.
Led by Head Coach Nick Scrivener, the Vikings, who reached
the semi-final stage last season only to fall to the Fijian Drua
in the Pacific Islands, have named a strong-looking group of
players that includes full Wallabies internationals Tom Banks,
Joe Powell, Pete Samu and Blake Enever.
There’s a real emphasis on youth amongst the group with
promising young talent such as Junior Wallabies props Bo
Abra and Angus Wagner, hooker Lachlan Lonergan, and backs
Noah Lolesio, Bayley Kuenzle and Len Ikitau, set to take the
tournament by storm.
Lock forward Darcy Swain has been named as Captain of the
Canberra Vikings team that will compete in the 2020 National
Rugby Championship (NRC) which kicks off this weekend.
Swain, who was part of the Plus500 Brumbies squad that
reached the Semi-Finals of Super Rugby in 2019, played a
dozen matches in the tournament having made his debut at
that level the year before.
The Brisbane-born second-rower is no stranger to the NRC
having played seventeen times for the Vikings since his debut
in a 2016 match away to the Sydney Rays and will become the
seventh player to lead the Vikings in the competition following
in the footsteps of Fotu Auelua, Jarrad Butler, Robbie Coleman,
Blake Enever, Tom Cusack and Ben Hyne.
“It’s a huge privilege to be named captain this year,” Swain said
of his appointment as skipper of the squad. “Having been in
this environment and learning from guys like Cusack and Hyney,
it’s an opportunity that I’ll definitely relish.
The Canberra Vikings National Rugby Championship challenge
for 2019 began with a visit to Melbourne to take on the Rising
on Saturday 31 August, and will include four home matches, all
at Viking Park.

I’d like to introduce you all to my new love 'Archery', more
specifically Capital Field Archers (CFA). We shoot traditional
bows, long bows and compound bows.
Three years ago I’d never even heard of Field Archery, today
I get out to the range any chance I can. CFA is very much a
family oriented club, with members as young as four years old.
We are located on Smiths Road just south of Tharwa, a quick
