Contact Your Legislators on COVID-19 Policy
Proposals
Take Action Before Thursday, May 7. As Congress
works on the next COVID relief package, contact
your members of Congress today for inclusion of a
legislative proposal aimed to prevent deep cuts to Medicare slated to
take effect on January 1, 2021. Taking action now and in the days ahead
is vital to our profession and patients.
PT is Approved as a Telehealth Provider for
Medicare
CMS announced and it is confirmed, PT's are now
included to provider telehealth services under
Medicare. Over 1000 members responded to the
FPTA's alert asking them to contact CMS - Advocacy

FPTA member Joy Smith, PT, owner of Joy for
Therapy in Tallahassee, says this is the first time her
office is using telehealth. Though it has its challenges,
she says it does help keep a continuity of care,especially for patients with scoliosis. Watch as Joy

APTA Announces Centennial Scholars Program
In 2021, APTA will hold a 12-month program to help
build future association leaders at both the component
and national levels to support a diverse and prepared
leadership pool. These scholars will be paired with
mentors and participate in virtual learning, in-person
events in conjunction with APTA Centennial events, as
well as working on capstone projects to benefit their components.
Eligibility criteria and application process with the FPTA is currently

Physical Therapists Needed for Telehealth Survey
Ben Davis PT, DPT, Josie Kautsky PT, DPT, and
Macey Thornburg PT, DPT, physical therapy residents
at the University of Miami, are investigating provider
perceptions of telehealth during COVID-19. Participants
will be asked to take an anonymous 10-15 minute
survey via Qualtrics. If you are a licensed physical therapist practicing in
the state of Florida, please consider participating and sharing the link
with your colleagues. Follow this link to take the survey.

Now is a good time to update your member profile inthe APTA database. Make sure your email and postal
address are correct (especially if you will be graduating
this semester) and review your email preferences. The
profile link is in the top right corner of the APTA

State-Wide Virtual National Advocacy Dinner
The APTA Student Assembly Advocacy Project
Committee along with APTA staff are hosting a
virtual National Advocacy Dinner on May 9, 2020 at
7:00 PM ET, through the APTA Student Assembly Facebook page.

Pediatrics Webinar Series - Course 2
Course 2 of the 3 part Pediatrics Webinar Series will
be held on Thursday, May 7th from noon to 1:00pm
via Zoom online. The topic of the webinar is Car Seats
and Vehicular Transport for Children with Special
Needs. Presented by Amber Yampolsky, PT & Erin
Baker, PT, DPT. This course provides 1 hour of
continuing education towards Florida license renewal and is free to all

The summer FCCE meeting has moved to virtual on
Monday, May 18th at 7:30 PM. This meeting will check
in on how everyone is doing and discuss current and
future concerns related to PT/PTA clinical education.
