Momentary Reflections Group It goes without saying that 2020 was a year like none other. The farther we made it into the year, the more and more "unusual" it felt to many of us. As human beings, it is in our nature to long for human connection. With COVID19 looming over our heads, we have both willingly and unwillingly discon- nected from the people and things in our life that mean the most. In 2021 the Wood Activity Center wants to serve as a refuge of sorts for those who may be struggling with the new normalcy that sur- rounds us. One way of doing so is through the use of small groups. The Momentary Reflections group has been developed to serve as an opportunity for individuals to come together and engage in fun activities that lead to learning, socialization and self-reflection. These small groups will be offered monthly this quarter with engaging activities and games to reach set goals. The first small group will be held on Friday, January 8th at 11AM. Refreshments and all materials needed for each group will be provided to all in attendance. Subsequent programs will be held on February 5th and March 5th at 11AM. RSVP is required each month as there is a maximum number set for groups in order to keep them small and intimate. Set Your Eyes on Things Unseen The curtain of 2020 has dropped and 2021 is now here! No one can go back in time to change the past, but what we can do is work on the present by mentally shaping our year for prosperity. Stop by the Wood Center the week of January 4th-8th and begin to shape your vision for 2021. This is a week-long activity where you have the opportunity to create a visualization of your goals, resolutions, and memories to come! We will be making memory boxes and vision boards this year and sharing them with our friends at the Center. Materials will be provided for participants to make miniature vi- sion boards and to write out resolutions that can be displayed at the Wood Center or taken home as a reminder of your hopes for the year. The memory boxes will serve as a central location for you to place all of your special memories as we move through 2021. This can be as small as writing down a place that you visited for the first time or something monumental like the arrival of a new grandchild. If you would like to make a memory box for the 2021 year, all you need to do is bring a container/box of any size that has a lid and materials for decorating the box will be available at the Center. All visualizations will be posted at the Wood Center collectively the following week for all to see. If interested, please call the Wood Center to RSVP your date and time.
