now, at the beginning of the new year 2021, it’s time to look back on the last, exceptional,
Covid-19 pandemic dominated, year 2020.

Suddenly everything is different, we delimit ourselves and get together in the pandemic. The
world is holding the breath and we are stumbling through a time of global uncertainty. Ship-
yards close the production halls, delivery dates and travel plans are bursting, ports isolate
themselves, long-distance sailors and dropouts sail back together across the Atlantic to the
European ports.
And yet this time, which slows down everyday life, also offers us good things. Contemplation
sharpens one's view of life, allowing new decisions and innovations. If this applies to us and
to the shipyards represented by cat sale, it is worth reporting here.

News from the shipyards, new design-premieres 2020/2021

  OUTREMER 55 N°1 under sails for first sea trials on the Med with cat sale

“Pike in the carp pond” - OUTREMER 55
In January 2020, at the boot-Düsseldorf-Show we celebrated the world premiere of the new
OUTREMER 55 design. The basic idea was to bring the renowned flagship 5X to a larger
group of long-distance sailors by clever "down-scaling". Thanks to the OUTREMER owner
portal, improvements suitable for a safe life aboard at the high seas were introduced. The
Design, again developed by Mark van Pethegem / VPLP. The ambitioned project benefited
from the good cooperation with the OUTREMER associated Gunboat team. The traditional
OUTREMER virtues, safety, performance and one-hand suitability, remain as stable DNA in
this highly innovative design. 300 nm Etmals in comfort and self-sufficiency set a new
benchmark. The interior design by Frank Darnet, offers a free-standing kitchen block with a
360° all-round ocean-view as the center of the light-flooded salon. Accessible to the protected
cockpit, where two vertically swiveling steering wheels are tilted either inwards, into the
cockpit or outwards to the side deck. For the design and construction of the new Outremer 55,
extensive studies on the selection of materials with low environmental impact were carried
out. For example, the use of reusable infusion devices (silicone foil) and a further optimized
energy management on board. The new OUTREMER 55 design sets new standards in terms
of sailing performance, handling, living space, ergonomics, light, ventilation and latest
reliable technologies.

We will present the December 2020 launched OUTREMER 55 N° 1 at the La Grande Motte
Multihull Show 2021.

cat sale is currently overseeing the construction of the OUTREMER 55 N° 3,
first under German flag, to be handed over at the end of April 2021.

After the end of production for the most successful NEEL 45 design in summer 2019,
we are now introducing the smaller sister, NEEL 43, as a new development.

NEEL Trimaran designs inspire us because of the innovative overall concept and the out-
standing sailing ability. Awarded many times for design, performance and innovation as *
BestBoat USA *, * EUROPEAN YACHT OF THE YEAR 2019 * and * Multihull of the
Year 2019 *. cat sale has represented NEEL Trimarans / La Rochelle since the start of ship-
yard production in 2010. Where, thanks to the collaboration of internationally renowned Mul-
tihull designers, Michel Joubert & Bernard Nivelt, Eric Bruneel and Marc Lombard, the high-
ly innovative NEEL Trimaran designs are created, which ideally combine the spacious and
comfortable living space of the Multihull with the Esprit and the sailing fun of a classic yacht.
The innovative development of the Trimaran concept continues this year with the redesign of
the now smallest NEEL 43 model. The world premiere is scheduled for May 2021 in La Ro-
chelle.

              Broadblue 346 as well presented at the Multihull-Show mit cat sale
The Broadblue 346 cruising cat designed by Darren Newton with the Dazcat design office is
built in Szczecin / Poland and combines modern design with English style and well-founded
Polish boat construction. With a length of only 10.2m, this catamaran offers excellent sailing
performance. Designed for a maximum of six people in two double cabins aft and two single
cabins in the bows, the interior proves to be extremely voluminous and comfortable even on
long voyages. Class A certified for deep sea sailing with a wave height of more than 8m, as
well as, due to the compact width, suitable for inland areas and lock passages, this catamaran
offers a huge potential for use.
