5Scheduling considerations • New Zealand will replicate the SOM clusters and physical meeting order as much as possible, consistent with working group and committee terms of references. • New Zealand has carefully considered options for meeting time that accommodate the most number of economies. All meetings will take place at: • Time-Slot 1: NZT 1500 – 1800 (SGT 1000 -1300) • Time-Slot 2: NZT 0000 -0300 (SGT 1900 – 2200) • Due to the realities associated with virtual meetings across many time zones we will continue to promote shorter meetings. • With the goal of replicating the structure of SOM Clusters and avoiding overlapping meetings involving the same delegates (and programme directors), most meetings will run on consecutive days. • We will endeavour to create a two-day ‘weekend’ break in the calendars. We will generally aim for weekends to fall across Sunday and Monday New Zealand / Singapore time. • Chairs will be encouraged to rationalise agendas and run meetings to time, making full use of intersessional periods and providing papers in advance.
Hosting arrangements
• All scheduled APEC 2021 meetings can make use of New Zealand’s
virtual meeting platform, Microsoft Teams, from SOM1.
• New Zealand’s virtual hosting team will provide support for the
virtual meeting platform technology, including registration.
• It is important meetings are scheduled early, and with as much
notice as possible.
• We will provide guidance and support to APEC delegates, with the
goal of creating a positive user experience for all.
• For delegates, it is important that you carefully follow our guidance
for registering to meetings and using Microsoft Teams.
