Hello Everyone!
As summer rolls around, activities in the Kings Point Golf and Country Club are
slowly getting back to what many of our residents are accustomed to…daily enjoyment
of the pools, tennis courts, and pickle ball courts, etc. Your Board of Directors, with
the oversight of professionals, continue to monitor all State and County Guidelines;
opening the recreation area facilities as expeditiously and safely as possible, realizing
not all of the community has been vaccinated.
Over the past year, the recreation area has completed several budgeted projects
which are recapped in the annual audit – available for pick up by all building
presidents in the Administration ID Office, by signature, with your Kings Point
identification card. Projects such as the fencing of the Par 3 Golf Course, completion
of the Main Clubhouse Billiard Room, painting the exterior of the Main Clubhouse
and Guard Houses, just to name a few. Over the summer, expect to see the Burgundy
Pool continue to move forward, along with the Main Clubhouse mansard roof project
to begin.
Shows…we have a great line up planned for the upcoming season! Currently, the
playbill is available. Social distancing will be adhered to, but on a reduced basis.
Golf…our golf courses are in full swing! The courses never looked better! Summer
offers some great deals for our residents. Stop in for a round or two!!
Looking forward to a safe and healthy summer in South Florida!

Kings Point 13Golf
Dear Kings Point Golfers:
Hopefully, everyone is takin advantage the superb weather we have had recently and enjoying the extraordinary
condition of the golf courses. 95 degrees and humidity are right around the corner. We have installed new tee
signs on all 36 holes including a new, cleaner look around the posts using brick pavers. Unfortunately, we have
seen some unwanted graffiti on the signs that golf maintenance has had to scrub off. If you see this criminal
behavior, please report it or discourage whoever you see doing it. New benches have been strategically placed
around the golf courses for your enjoyment. Our golf staff has done a remarkable job with cart availability
considering the Covid situation. If you can, please share a cart with your playing companion. Remember to treat
all golf maintenance staff with due respect allowing them to complete their tasks unimpeded and safely.
Best regards, Jeff Huelsman, Director of Golf Operations.

Kings Point Kings17Point | 15Alliance of Delray News Water and Flood Protection is an Important Focus of Legislative Session 2021 Water and natural resources are high on Palm Beach County’s list of priorities in Legislative Session 2021. The Joint Legislative Agenda indicates the support for Watershed Restoration, Beach Management, Lake Okeechobbee Restoration, infrastructure improvement, alternative water supply sources, and funding to assist residents moving from septic tanks to sewer systems. Palm Beach County also has an immediate issue to address. With the Flood Control Act of 1948, Congress authorized the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to design and construct water management infrastructure. This project was named the Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Project and was projected to serve a population of 2 million people. Since 1950, the population being served has increased to 8.7 million and is expected to rise to 11.4 million by 2045. The authorized purposes for the system were for flood control, water supply, navigation, prevention of saltwater intrusion, and protection of fish and wildlife resources. The C&SF Project served as the foundation for the creation of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). The SFWMD and Palm Beach County’s Office of Resilience have been educating the public on the emergency that exists and the need to update the system. In a March 12, 2020 presentation, the SFWMD described the extent of the emergency with illustrations of Impacts already being observed which include, “Sunny Day” flooding, extreme rainfall flooding, saltwater intrusion, and is supporting the need for the C&SF Review Study due to changed physical conditions. The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution on February 25, 2021. The resolution urges the United States Congress to provide appropriate sufficient funding for the USACE to conduct the Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Flood Project Flood Risk Management Infrastructure Resiliency Plan Study including funding for an immediate Work Plan for the Army Civil Works program to follow. The residents of Palm Beach County rely on the C&SF system to protect properties from flooding and to protect public water supply from depletion and saltwater intrusion. In the nearly 70 years from the commencement of the C&SF Project, new challenges have surfaced including an enormous increase in development and population. Climate changes and sea Level Rise are adding to the immediate need for flood protection in Palm Beach County.
